“A Little Gold-Mine.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 22, 2013

I was so absorbed in the contents of this wonderful museum that I didn't realize the time had elapsed on my parking ticket.
Luckily, I popped out and put another hour on my parking so I could browse some more. (The admission price, £3, lasts all day; so you can come and go).
The 5 or 6 'rooms' each had a theme. Ilfracombe's war-time in one, maritime history in another, how the town has grown and changed in another etc.
The natural history section had dozens of drawers full of bugs from all over the world, enough to keep young and old alike fascinated for hours.
Quite small, but not cramped, it's a real gold mine.

“well worth the money”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 10, 2013

A very interesting building with a myriad of things to see and do.
From drawers full of things to brass rubbings to stuffed animals and local history.
To do it justice you need at least 2hours if not more.
Well worth the entrance fee

“Researching family history”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 4, 2013 via mobile

We own Hele Corn Mill and wanted to research more leads on its history also who owned our house way back, when it was built. The census is a good place to start and if you give the museum a bit of notice their help is invaluable. If you become a friend of the museum you can return again and again. A wonderful resource.

“Another trip back in time”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 3, 2013

The Ilfracombe Museum is tucked away at the rear of a car park on the promenade and is well worth a visit. Don't let the exterior put you off because the interior is an Aladdin's Cave
Cave" of interesting things to see. The staff are very nice people who will be only too pleased to answer any questions you may have about the wonderful things inside. Well worth the entrance fee. A lovely way to spend an hour whatever the weather.

“Fascinating place”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 25, 2013

Wander through the museum and enjoy a range of curiosities and memorabilia. Natural History, Maritime History with a collection of model ships and even a radio station. Watch a DVD about interesting places in North Devon. There's something for everyone here.
