“Excellent food, service, atmosphere and value for money”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 27, 2014

Had a family and friends get together of 24 adults and a couple of children for the night before our wedding last weekend and we had the most enjoyable evening.

The menu offered a fabulous 3 course choice with options to suit all; we were able to pre-order our selection which allowed the meals to be prepared.

The venue was a perfect size to accommodate us all and allowed the atmosphere to give a cosy feel but not too cramped.

The food was fantastic and considering the numbers John the Chef did an amazing job plating up and getting the food out to us all. I would strongly recommend all dishes as the feedback from all guests was very positive. We were very impressed and it was everything we had hoped for.

The staff were excellent and really helpful, one member of staff even offered to hold the baby whilst the parents ate their dinner.

We will defiantly be visiting John and his team again in the near future; thank you for making our evening so memorable and a great start to our wedding celebrations.

“Great meal and service!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 16, 2014

Had a lovely meal at The Chimes. It's only a small restaurant but has a really nice homely feel and the staff are very attentive. The fact that you can see the food being cooked means you know everything is fresh and the chef was really enthusiastic! The food was great and reasonably priced for what you got, we will definitely be recommending The Chimes!

“A Hidden Jewel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 23, 2014

An unostentacious bistro/restaurant very close to the beach in Ilfracombe with an interesting menu and relaxing atmosphere. Vegetables cooked to perfection and the most tasty sea bass that I have ever tasted. Sunday lunch was a delight and even offered a nut roast which would tempt a carnivore. Home made puddings included a piquant lemon tart, sticky toffee pudding and brioche and apricot bread and butter pudding, and gluten-free options. What a find. This chef certainly knows how to please people. Very reasonable prices too. I can't believe that I have stumbled upon somewhere so special and can't recommend it highly enough. I am looking forward to Summer meals there on the south-facing garden/patio.
