“Lovely short break.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 12, 2013

We have just returned from a two night short break. Our room was lovely, cosy and very clean. Bathroom and shower were the same.
I don't understand why I am reading a review about poor breakfast. Our two breakfasts were lovely and the home grown produce superb.
The rooms do have creaky floors and sound does travel, but hopefully all guests are considerate and try to keep the noise down.
We will hopefully return as it is value for money, hosts are welcoming and friendly and the accommodation is in an ideal area for Woolacombe and Ilfracombe.
Thank you for our stay.

We have reluctantly returned from a wonderful week in Devon, made all the more special by the standard of service and breakfast at Mullacott Farm. We had both ground floor rooms. The rooms were large and spotlessly clean, beautifully decorated in traditional cottage style and cleaned daily to a very high standard. All disablility requirements were met with a smile and nothing was too much trouble for them. Would 100% recommend this accomodation to anyone with a disabled child.

Room Tip: The ground floor rooms are ideal for disabled access, and people who wish to books two rooms and spe...

Breakfast bacon and sausages although hyped as own produce were very commercial, marmalade and jam looked 'old'. Pressurised to move out of room in the morning before the rest of party had returned from horse riding next door, they had no time to shower after ride. It felt like well you've paid, now go.
Lacked soundproofing between walls, so others conversations could be heard.

I am sorry you were disappointed with your stay.
We feel we did all we could to make your trip special. Problems can arise if the visitor’s expectations do not match what we offer, and what we state we offer. We are not a hotel and we don’t charge hotel prices.
As we state, truly, on all of our adverts, the bacon and sausages are home-made, using our own pigs. You saw the next batch of pigs that are due to become the next breakfasts on your stay. There is nothing commercial about them. I take particular pride in our bacon and sausages, and enjoy the day it takes to make the sausages, and process, and slice the bacon, ready for the guests to enjoy. In fact, unlike many makes of sausages we use all the pig, so that the meaty shoulders and legs go in them too, not just the fattier cuts. The Jam and marmalade are also home-made, and have both been made, in season this year, as they are every year. This activity takes a number of weeks, in January, for the marmalade, and then smaller batches throughout the summer of various fruits for the jam.
We always try to be accommodating to our guests, and provided the horse riders with a cooked breakfast, 1 hour earlier than we normally serve it, as arranged the night before, so they had something before their beach ride. Our usual early breakfast is restricted to beans or scrambled egg on toast but we offered you a full English breakfast. This was booked for 7.30 am. Even then you came down in the morning, when it was all cooked and ready, and asked for it to be delayed by half an hour, which would have spoiled the breakfast.
Your room was available for you to arrive at 12pm, and as stated on the back of the door and in the room brochure; they need to be vacated by 10am the following morning, so it can be got ready for the next guests.
At no point had you asked, or tried to arrange for a late check-out, which incidentally, would have been impossible as we were already full the following night, and perhaps you should have booked 2 nights, to stop being rushed. We did ask you to move into one room, and vacate the other, after 11am, but it was just gone midday when you left the second room, and the next guests had already rung and were on their way. We feel it was unreasonable of you to leave saying that you felt you were rushed. You had access to a room with tea and coffee making facilities, shower facilities, TV etc. until after 12 noon, 2 hours later than our checkout time.
The building is nearly 100 years old, and has been converted sympathetically, but obviously it is not totally sterile and soundproofed completely. Your rooms were above the dining room, which is only used for breakfast and you had no other bedrooms adjacent, the nearest bedrooms being across the corridor.
I am sorry you were disappointed with your stay. I am pleased your family enjoyed their beach ride, and that you enjoyed your visit to Chambercombe Manor.

Second time at Mullacott Farm on our way to Lundy. It really is great value here, with friendly people, comfortable beds and a good breakfast. Towels better than in many an expensive hotel. Creaky bathroom floor in room 6, but great view from room 3. And for the already very reasonable pice, we left our car in safety all week whilst we on the island. Thank you.

The farm is set in a decent location between woolacombe and ilfracombe. I would recommend the patio room ( ground floor ) it was neat and tidy, the bed linen etc.. was clean but a little dated for our liking. The breakfast was nice you could choose what you wanted whether it be full English or eggs on toast.
Owners were friendly and it felt homely.
The only down side to over stay was it was nearly fully occupied which meant you could hear each other in the rooms, next door had their TV on til 1am and you could here what they were watching it was so loud and upstairs the same, it was creeky and you could here them walk about throughout the night and here them flushing their chain so unfortunately we did not get a good nights sleep. I understand it is an older building and not sound proofed so we didn't let it upset us but thought I would just let you know.

We arrived late Friday hoping there would be room at the inn as it was a last minute decision to go away for the weekend. I hate turning up late as people that run b and bs have a life to. I rang the bell to be greeted by friendly smiley face. It was after 8.30 pm and had just distubed her evening. She was really hospitable and said of course we have room for you.

The room was clean and comfy. We dumped our stuff and went to the pub.

The morning came and I have stayed in some places with rubbish showers so I was expecting the normal fight of trying to find a trickle of Luke warm water. I was thrilled to be massaged by the shower. It was lush and hot. And the shower was easy to use you didn't need to twiddle with the knob to get hot water.

The towels where lovely and I love the extra bits like ear buds and cotton wool. And also wine glasses so you don't have to drink out of the bathroom glasses.

We went down for breakfast to be greeted by a friendly face asking if we want t or coffee. We had a choice of coffee instant or filter. I think its really nice to be given the choice as some people dont like filter. The breakfast was just enough it was lovely. I could tell the eggs where fresh free range -nice orange yolks.

We stayed 2 nights and had a great weekend.

This is the second time we have stayed here and we would stay again.

We felt very welcome.
Thanks for a great weekend.
