“Good food, good value.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 25, 2012

From the outside it doesn't seem much, but inside was comfortable and clean. Service and food were fine with a nice choice of starters and mains.

“As good as any.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 24, 2012 via mobile

Ate here year ago, back again so revisited. Was very busy with a couple of large parties in so half expected delays but no problems. Hadnt booked but ok.

Typical Italian menu, good selection of starters, pastas, veal, chicken, fish and steak dishes. We shared a basic garlic/cheese/pizza bread - tasty and light.

We had a peppered steak in sauce - excellent, and a chicken with cheese/ham sauce as mains. Each came with roasted potatoes, cauliflower, carrots & broccoli. All well prepared and served, no great delay.

Service was v good an attentive, good value for money - with a beer and 2 glasses oof wine - just ove £40.

Will def visit again.

“Giovanni & Luca Ilfracombe”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 19, 2012

We spent a very wet long weekend in October Wollacombe, durign our trips around the beautiful North Devon coastline we came to Ilfracombe and were looking for somwhere to eat.
Quite by accident we found this restaurant on the sea road and so in we went.
Well this place is quite fantastic really neat and tidy, spotlessly clean, warm and great staff very attentive without crowding your table.
Wine first class but the food was tremendouse - four of us sat down to eat and we all chose differing foods from the menu, pizza, pasta, seafood all were truly great.
At the end of the evening the bill came along and it was very reasonable - starters mains and drinks around £20 per head brilliant value for such a great experience.
How lucky Ilfracombe residents are to have such a great value and quality eatery like this to hand.
In fact we felt is was so good we went back again on our last night in Devon.
I urge all North Devon travellers to try this one!

“A Pleasant Surprise”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 15, 2012

We visited Giovanni`s on a Saturday night. Our first choice restaurant was hosting a private party so I booked at G and L`s. I was a bit wary due to some adverse comments on Trip Advisor and from some mixed reviews from friends but I needn`t have worried.
We were warmly welcomed on arrival at 7.15 at which time the restaurant was already busy.
We were soon tucking into well cooked and nicely presented food, washed down with a carafe of very presentable house red. My wife managed an amaretto trifle which my stolen spoonful confirmed was delicious. I settled for an excellent cup of hot cappucino.
The menu here is not extensive. The emphasis is on pizza, pasta, chicken and beef dishes. There are seafood dishes on the menu, but given their proximity to Ilfracombe harbour it`s perhaps a little disappointing that fish doesn`t feature more strongly on the menu.
However what they do cook they do very well with good quality ingredients ( my steak was delicious) . I`d much rather somewhere that played to their strengths rather than be over ambitious and fail.
The service was unobtrusive but efficient on what was a busy night. Every table was occupied and I counted a dozen customers who had to be turned away
This is a family concern and all the staff seemed happy and smiling creating a very pleasant ambience. One very young family member was even doing an expert job setting tables!
The bill for two starters, two mains, one dessert, one coffee and a half litre carafe of red wine came to a very reasonable £51.
Overall my wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our evening and,as locals, will definitely be back soon.
Based on this visit I am puzzled by their ranking in the twenties. If there are twenty better restaurants we haven`t found them
