“What a little gem!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 27, 2012

Anne is so welcoming! And so was Hugh! We tried to find faults with acorn lodge but there were none! Anne made an effort to remember our names (foreign!!!) and found time to chat although she was obviously busy- how many times must she have heard stories of Lundy and nearby walks?! The lodge felt personable so unlike the chain nonsense I get for work. Its a simple, tidy, clean, heart warming place with a friendly face (and Hugh's ;)). And oh, breakfast was lovely both mornings- on tables with linen and allocated according to room in a cosy setting. Piped music was soothing and so appropriate for a little outfit. Anne could most certainly teach many hotels (and BnBs) a thing or two about what hospitality is!! Acorn lodge is located amongst plenty of BnBs in the area but when i next visit ilfracombe, I know I wouldnt even bother trying out the others. Excellent location to boot!
Sleep quality of 4 nothing to do with acorn lodge- i was woken up by the church bell at 5am on the first sleep. Maybe thats not a fair review...had ear plugs on the second night and was definitely sleep quality of 5!

Room Tip: We stayed in 2 different rooms and both were good and clean!

Hugh and Anne are a really friendly couple. They iook after you really well. When we arrived we were taken straight into tea garden and given a much needed cup of tea its a lovely touch. Could not have been in a better postion handy for everything . Will stay again if we come back to the area. The cream tea was great we also had a crab sandwich lush. We would stay here again when in the area . To sum up a relaxing five day break . Thankyou :-)

Hugh and Ann were very welcoming hosts, very friendly, breakfasts were excellent and the ensuite room was very clean and comfortable. The fucshia garden was lovely and served the best cream teas. The hotel was situated in an ideal spot for the harbour, pubs shops and restaurants. Very good value for money. Thank you Ann and Hugh for making our week relaxing and enjoyable.

We stayed at the Acorn Lodge at the end of July for a weekend and it was great. The owners are very welcoming and it is very clean and tidy, the room we had was really lovely, we even had a four poster bed which was a surprise! The breakfast was good with choice of cerial and juice and full cooked breakfast and all the toast you can eat. You must have a cream tea while you are there too, we could smell the scones being baked in the morning which was heaven. The location is perfect with shops, bars and restaurants all within walking distance and we found the best Tapas restaurant ever, it was called The Terrace and I would definitely recommend it, great food, great atmosphere and excellent Mojitos.

I find It's always a risk when you book into somewhere for a week as we did,on a first time visit never really knowing what to expect.
No worries here, the owners were very welcoming and friendly.
Clean, comfortable ensuite accommodation, great full English breakfasts (or alternative) and ideally positioned for the harbour restaurants and ferry to Lundy . Parking permit included in the price we paid.
Very good value for money, would definitely visit again.
