Cheap and cheerful with possibly the best hot chocolate fudge cake ever.

“Perfect country pub”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 11, 2011

This is a truly great English country pub. The food is excellent and for the most part is locally sourced as is the beer. The Otter Ale is particularly good. The landlord is a great musician such that their Friday night open mic nights attract similarly good musicians from the local area. The pub is very dog friendly and has it's own unique three-legged pub dog usually found spread out by the wood burning stove.

“Welcome break while hiking.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 6, 2011

Went with the family after hiking from Woolacombe to Lee. Garden was buzzing with people as the weather was fine; inside a bit dark but cozy and old-fashioned. Publican very nice; food very good! Husband had chili, kids had panini (homemade bread?) and I had the ploughmans (bread also homemade?) - all very fresh, cannot be faulted.

“Graet place, great location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 31, 2011

Food is OK, some times good, staff are fine (missing the odd smile). Lee bay is stunning and the short walk from the bay car park to the Grampus, for lunch makes it a great day. Do it you will have a great chill out day.

“Great pub for hikers or a pint in the evening”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 4, 2011

We were there several times during our stay. The menu has a good range of interesting dishes (like chilli with chocolate, but also salads etc). Good range of beers.

Atmosphere is very friendly and the open mike night was great! Amazing variety of musicians.

There was an art exhibition on display with local art, with quite original items.

Happy to come back :-)
