Having seen the photo's on the website, I was quite dissapointed with the decor of our room (the family suite - 2 rooms with connecting door). Spacious though and the beds are good, but the decoration and furniture is pretty shabby and not quite chic..... Room & bathroom were clean luckily, shame about the dirty windows. Very nice hosts, which is always important! The cooked breakfast was good according to hubby and daughters and they are fairly fussy when it comes to their food.... Cosy breakfast area and reception lounge and a cute playroom with lots of toys for diddy ones. The location was perfect for us, a stunning walk down to the beach, really not far at all. Walking back up might be a challenge for families with very young kids though! This hotel could be so much more attractive if there was a bit more effort put into tyding up the outside areas and inside could really do with a lick of paint over the dreadful dark paintwork in the hall, stairs and landing areas, which also could really do with new carpet to bring it more in line with some of the effort that has gone into other areas of the hotel. Ofcourse with an older building you could go on and on and spend a fortune, but I think a little can go a long way here!
Go for the 2-room family suite if you have (slightly) older children; it really is worth the extra...

‘disappointed with the decor of our room’ This room is one of four we refurbished this year to Alex’ Polizzi’s, Channel 5' Hotel Inspector, template; original wooden floors stripped and waxed, cream walls and matching solid wood furniture.
‘This hotel could be so much more attractive if there was a bit more effort’ Our effort is great; what we lack is time and opportunity. During peak Season it is almost impossible to decorate the Public areas; ripping up carpet, wet paint, ladders many guests coming and going; likewise the external work can only be accomplished with the aid of ladders and/or scaffolding both are very off-putting when guest arrive. 90% of the Public areas have been refurbished, the rest will be completed this year; we will also continue to improve Outside and refurbish two more rooms.
‘shame about the dirty windows’ Windows cleaned weekly but our sandy seaside rain quickly undoes our best efforts; if asked we are happy to clean again
‘Walking back up (from beach) might be a challenge’ There is an alternative gentle route back to Hotel; which we will be recommend in future.
In summation we offer good value; this guest’s party comprised two adults and two grown up children accommodated in two adjoining rooms, each with TV and ensuite, beautiful view, from two windows, across rooftops to the Sea, (full breakfast, one of four main choices, comprises eight different items, locally sourced and perfectly cooked to order and served with tea. coffee, three choices of toast and preserves, cereal, yogurt and fruit (juiced, fresh and tinned) all for £127.50/night B &B room tariff
