My husband & I stayed at the Capstone for one night, as we were going to see a show at the Landmark & didn't want to travel back to Somerset late at night.
We arrived in the late afternoon & were greeted by Minaz who was lively & showed us to our room.
Our room looked out onto the main street. It had the bedroom, dressing room & bathroom. The Capstone is obviously going through a renovation. The bedroom was nicely decorated with a good bed & flat screen tv. The wardrobe was a little tired but functional but the bathroom was pale avocado green. It was functional, but tired. Once it has been renovated i'm sure it will be lovely.
We decided to eat in the restaurant when they opened at 6pm so that we could be finished before the show started. We got to the restaurant slightly before they opened & the waitress was somewhat flustered. The menu wasn't as extensive as I'd hoped & there were no specials/fish dishes. Or at least we weren't told about any. The food we did have, steak & chips, was perfectly good, but a little pricey for the portion size. The pudding however was lovely.
Once returning to our room after the show we settled to sleep. Unfortunately, the sea gulls in Ilfracombe seem to be nocturnal & they squawked & fought all night! & as our room (& possibly the entire hotel) wasn't doubleglazed this meant a sleepless night.
Breakfast in the morning was lovely. A great range of cooked foods & some continental buffet items.
We initially chose this hotel as it was one of only a handful that offered one-night stays (most had a two-night minimum). However, this was a nice hotel in transition, which will be amazing once complete.
