“Wish we'd stayed here”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 4, 2010

Although we did not stay at this hotel, we went there for drinks and meals. The hotel was very clean, and nothing was too much trouble for the staff. The meals we had were very tasty, the belly of pork was to die for. Wish we had stayed here instead of the so called hotel we stayed at down the road

My husband and I have just returned from a 3 day stay at this hotel. We had a fab time. Although there are coach parties to cater for also at the hotel the staff cater for the private residents first class. The food is fab!!! We had 4 courses every night with one night being the" Lairds Buffet" and boy was this buffet fit for a Laird. Thank you to all the staff from the girls at reception and Scott and his staff and of course not to forget the Chefs. especially to the Chef from Hungary ( sorry didnt get to know your name)
We will certainly be back.

Four of us stayed in this hotel for two nights from 7th September 2010. First of all the cost of two nights, dinner bed and breakfast was very reasonable at £99 per person. The dinner was a four course meal and then coffee. The breakfast was as much as you wanted to eat. Our rooms were spacious and clean. What made it for us was the staff. Everyone was very pleasant and nothing was too much trouble for them.

There is entertainment in the evening on a scottish theme and that was good. There were coach parties in when we were there so there were a lot of older guests. They all seemed to be enjoying themselves as well.

Would we go back - yes we will!!

On arrival to the Duke of Gordon we were ushere inside and told our evening meal was within half an hour, hardly time for our cases to be delivered to our room,so unable after a long journey no time to wash and change. The room was small infact more like a cupboard with views over a rooftop and definately no sunlight or view.
There was no kettle in our room, so we reported it to reception immediately, tea and coffee they said they would send one up, no kettle arrived.....for three days we reported the missing kettle, only to be told by reception that 'if they haven't brought a kettle then they probably don't have one. Eventually we gave up and did without. The brochure advertises tea and coffee making facilities....not in our room it didn't, reception staff were rude and unhelpful..considering the majority of guests were elderley and facilities for the disabled were non exsitent. the hotel is in need of a good refurbishment, wallpaper is baldly faded and peeling off the walls. Mealtimes kept changing one evening it was 8.pm the next it was 6pm The food was ok but very dry and bland and portions were small if you were an octogenarian as the majority of the guests were, it was ok, staff are polish and talk in their native language in front of hotel guests, Would I return to this hotel ? probably not.

was booked into this hotel for a weekend break with my husband to celebrate our wedding anniversary and his coming back from 6mth detachment overseas. We checked in at 5.20 pm and on going into our room found the tv blaring out the world cup game and our room not finished been serviced obviously the football was more important than our room. We went back down to reception to inform them of the position and was told we been extremely busy .We were told our room would be 5 mins and by the time we got back upstairs it would be ready .We did this only to encounter the rude housekeeping staff who threw the hoover cable across floor when we opened door . We closed our room door wherein the young person then proceeded to start banging shut the other room doors presumably to annoy us .I decided then to look more closely at our room and found that hospitality tray still had bits of opened sugar wrappings in them the t bags were just out of packet exposed to elements the bathroom was not much better you would need to be below 5ft 5 to safely use the facilities due to the coombed ceilings We decided we had enough and asked to be moved only to be informed there was no other rooms I asked if they knew of anywhere else that would have rooms and was told no they were quite happy to take my cancellation and werent in least bit bothered that we would have nowhere else to go .I would not recommend this hotel to anybody they only seemed to be interested in bus groups

My Husband and myself have just returned from a long weekend's stay at the Duke of Gordon. The staff are extremely friendly, polite and couldn't do enough, food was lovely, room was large and clean with a lovely 4 post bed. Down sides are it is a little bit shabby in places and could do with some TLC i.e new carpets and a lick of paint but i certainly wouldn't let this put me off staying there again.

I am a golf professional and have taken many groups of golfers up to theHighlands for golfing trips, staying at the Duke of Gordon .The hotel made us very welcome and made all the golf arrangements for us which made life particularly easy.At the same time
both the staff and food were excellent and i would have no hesitation in returning to the
hotel when i next visit the Highlands.
