on arrival the hotel looked dingy, when we climbed the 2 floors to our room (no lift)I noticed dirty window frames & black tape on the balustrade holding it together. I had asked for a nice room as it was our anniversary, the room was very small with a 1970's wardrobe, there were holes in the sheets & the net curtain was put up with dowling, the very faded orange curtains di nothing to keep the light out of the room. Noise from other rooms seemed to carry all over the hotel. The food was very poor, most of it was cold.
The tea & coffe making facilities were laughable, 1 cheap teabag & 1 sachet of coffee per person per day. The cups were stuck to the tea tray & had to be boiled before we could drink out of them. The only saving grace for this hotel was the Hoteliers who were friendly. This is my opinion & others guests I spoke to felt the same however there were some guests who were back for a second visit. I will not be returning.

Stayed for one week with family. Hotel generally clean and tidy however furniture in room falling to bits. Evening meal far too small, no proper chef, most food clearly out of a packet, tin or frozen. Chicken 'breasts' were processed, no bread rolls given for soup just half a slice of bread per person. Amature waiting staff, Morrisons budget range custard used,hungry most evenings after dinner. Parking situation terrible although was told when booking that there was no real problem! overall very poor value for money. Clearly trying to run hotel on a shoestring budget. Sandown great would go again but would not stay at Corner house. Tip to tourists. This Hotel is a must if you are on a diet and do not want temptation to over eat put in your way. It wont be!

Just had the best weeks holiday at the corner house hotel.the hotel was clean very comfy.a real home from home.good home cooked food lovley staff,and great entertainment.i will be booking up to go back again as soon as i can.

For the second year running I have escorted a party of 60 children for a weeks field trip to the Isle of Wight. Offering a welcome to such a group might daunt even the most valient of hostelliers but not Greg and Irene. They have been most hospitable-nothing was too much trouble They made a real effort to be really child friendly-food-entertainment etc, even giving out prizes to the most polite table etc. We have booked again for next year and know that we can reassure our parents that their children will be looked after. For many of these children this is their first time away from home and I am pleased they returned with many happy positive memories.
I would certainly love to return for a private weekend. Its homely, comfortable and in a good location and serves delicious food.
I cannot praise it highly enough

Stayed here twice whilst house hunting on the island. Greg and Irene are very friendly and welcoming, rooms are as good as any we've stayed in for the price. Greg arranged the ferry for us on both occasions so all we had to do was pay the total.
Breakfast was great, not greasy and plenty to get your day started.
Only down point is the lack of parking nearby.
