“good break”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 1, 2013

really enjoyed our stay a fantastic hotel that only has a three star status. The meals were very good the service was great our room and bed was clean comfortable and nicely decorated the pool area and the hot tub and facilities were fab. Only thing i can critisise is the curtains in the dining room and the constant michael buble music whilst eating. would defo go back to stay

Do as other reviewers say and go for a king-size superior room. It's not a massive room but it sounds like other rooms in the hotel are a little on the small size. Food was first class - well above the 3-star hotel grade and all the staff were superb, happy to go the extra mile.
It's true that it's a bit tired in places but that didn't detract from our visit.
A great price.

Room Tip: Top floor superior king size are more spacious than others.

My partner & I went for a two day break following afamily wedding. The room was comfortable & clean. The staff were excellent - very helpful & a special mention must be made of the restaurant staff who were polite & attentive. The wine waiter could not have been more helpful. The food was very good & I would definately recommend the hotel for anyone wanting a pleasant trouble free break

Just returned from a 2 day spa break here arranged with Travel 24. The staff are really helpful, friendly and attentive. The spa is small but adequate. The decor is very dated. However as this was a special offer, it was good value for money. I would not pay full price for this hotel unless it received a thorough clean and decorative upgrade. If you are garlic fan don't miss a trip to the garlic farm where there is a fantastic, mouth-watering array of delicious, garlic related products - but be mindful of leaving a bagful in the car overnight as the smell will stay with you!

We arrived to the isle of wight for the 1st time on the 27th feb 13 with high expectations for the melville hall spa hotel however it was a disaster!! we stepped into our room to find dust everywhere, hair in the bath, outdated tv and furniture, unclean utilities and carpets not even hoovered. we complained to management in which they cleaned the bath for 1 minute and wasnt even done properly so complained again!! we then were taken to the sitting area and had to wait a while to be seen. They said nothing could be done so therfore we asked for a full refund, which was given. It was a terrible experience and staff were grumpy, all but 1 which welcomed us on arrival. Deffinately wouldnt stay here, so dirty and run-down, couldnt even stay 1 night.

Room Tip: Don't Bother

We had a 2-day spa-break in a cold February when being outside was unpleasant. But the staff and atmosphere made up for that. Enjoyed the pool, sauna, etc. Good menu, good food, attentive service - and absolutely great value!

We really enjoyed our two night stay here. It was a good standard 3 star hotel. It's clean and comfortable, but what made it worth 5 stars is the pleasant service from every member of staff.
The spa is old and small, but if you want an modern and flash spa, you need to pay more money and book a 4 of 5 star place.
Food was excellent, had enough choice and also good value.
It's not on the sea front, but it is an easy walk there. I would stay again.
