“A pleasant few days at the Broadway Park Hotel, Isle of Wight”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 4, 2013

Just back from a few days staying at the Broadway Park Hotel, Isle of Wight. The hotel, set in attractive grounds close to the sea front. The rooms, recently refurbished, provided just what we required to make our stay comfortable and relaxing. French windows onto gardens filled with flowers. The staff were immensely efficient and helpful, particularly the reception, serving staff and the lady that looked after our room called Angie. The only difficult to track down members on the payroll were the Red Squirrels! The only ones we saw were on the postcard we bought to send home!

Room Tip: The beds don't come with a top sheet, but you only have to ask!

Spent last weekend here in room 111 For what we paid (self drive) it was value for money
will hopefully manage back in November and will try a upgraded room. Staff are all excellent
Food was good and the male entertainer on the friday " SHIRLEY" was first class.......

Room Tip: if you are at all fussy go for a upgraded room.....

Having just spent 3 nights there the facilities that were asked for were not available upon arrival. The bedroom was dowdy and the carpet in need of renewal. The decor needed re-doing. The shower above the bath kept falling down. In fairness, when told about this, the management had it repaired. We originally requested disabled facility rooms on the ground floor but were given rooms upstairs. This was altered and we received that which we asked for. The staff were accommodating and pleasant and I have no complaint there. The food was not up to a good standard except for Saturday when it was great. The breakfast, sausages and bacon were hard as if overcooked. Our friends with whom we went with had been twice before and said that standards had definately dropped. No complaints about the entertainment, very good. I did however object paying £5 a night to park the car.

thank you for taking time to post a review on your recent weekend break with us. I am glad that we managed to alter your accommodation to a room which was more suitable for your requirements. We are gradually re-furbishing some of the bedrooms and bathrooms which is a ongoing programme. I shall look into the comments regarding your meals with us. We all hope that we may see you again in the future.

Just had a weekend away at this hotel and found it to be excellent value for money.
The staff were all very friendly and attentive.
The food was excellent - plenty of choices and hot. The waitress service was fast, frendly and efficient.
My room was warm and comfy and the sheets and towels were spotlessly clean and the towels were changed daily.
I'm reluctant to make any negative comment at all given the price of the break but it has to be said that the general standard of cleaning in the room/bathroom was not great..although we did notice that the hotel has a 5* hygiene rating which is impressive -all said, overall, we had a fantastic, great value break courtesy of Shearings/Broadway Park.
The included excursion of a tour around the island was briliant, Jim, our driver, was friendly and very well informed and gave us lots of interesting information. Thank you for a great short break and hope to see you again soon!

We have just come back from a 5 day break at Broadway Park Hotel, Sandown, Isle of Wight.

We traveled with Shearings by coach and we cannot fault the driver, Paul, who was very pleasant, informative and helpful.

When it came to the hotel we were very disappointed, room 119 was a complete let down particularly the bathroom, no shower except a plastic shower head that would fit on to the taps but when you attached it it blew off the taps and was no where near long enough to shower under and there was no where to attach it anyway.

We asked if we could change rooms as both of us find it difficult to get in and out of bath but were told there were no rooms available, bathroom was also mouldy and not clean.

The bedroom was not being cleaned as we spotted a cobweb under the dressing table which looks as if it had been there some weeks by the size of it. Heating was the form of an oil filled mobile radiator. We opted for the drinks offer of £30.00 each which allows 4 drinks each per night but what you were'nt told was you were limited to certain drinks if you wanted for example a Guiness you had to pay an upgrade of £1.00 which was not explained to us at time of booking.

Resturant staff very pleasant, food OK for money paid, bar staff OK.

All in all loved Isle of Wight and Shearings coach travel but not hotel.

Room Tip: Don't go for 119 ask before you go to have bathroom with a shower and check about the drinks vou...

I was sorry to read that you were dissapointed with your stay with us last week. We were unable to offer you a room with a shower as we were fully booked, if you had mentioned to us at the time the issues relating to the cleanliness of your room we would have got these rectified immediately. When making a reservation it is always advisable to request a shower, this would avoid any further disappointment in the future. The pre-paid drinks voucher are a good deal, £30.00 pp for 4 drinks per night over a 4 night break (£1.87 per drink) which includes many of the quality brands, Bells, Gordons, Bacardi, Smirnoff, there is the option to upgrade your dirnk to another brand for a £1.00, like the Guiness, which still makes it good value for money. Thank you for taking the time to post your review.

We have just returned from this hotel with Shearings. Although we had a lovely holiday, due to meeting very nice people, the hotel was very disappointing. It needs a thorough referb. The room we had was very dated & the bathroom in particular was awful not suitable for older people! It only had a bath with a "shower" attachment over the bath which only gave scalding hot water or cold no good if you wanted to shower. Also getting into & out of the bath was very difficult for my partner as he is in his 70's. We did complain about the water temperature but nothing was done. Also the bathroom had a very bad smell. It was damp & musty & the shower curtain could have done with a good wash. Having said all that we did enjoy the food & trips out. Gary our coach driver was fantastic, a lot better than the driver we had when we went to Ilfracombe in February this year!! We would return but only if the hotel was thoroughly spruced up.

I was sorry to read that you did not enjoy your stay with us, unfortunately not all of our bathrooms have showers, we are gradually refurbishing some of the bathrooms and this issue is being rectifeid. We were fully booked at the time and unable to offer to you an alternative room, should you book again in the future please mention when making your reservation that you require a shower, this imformation will be passed onto the hotel and avoid you any further dissappointment. Thank you for your review.

We stayed at this hotel for a long weekend break. Although rather tired-looking in places, the hotel is undergoing renovations and the completed areas look good. The staff were all extremely friendly and the food was hot and tasty - and a good choice was available.

The hotel car park does not have sufficient spaces, so parking needs to be reserved at £5 per night. All spaces are numbered and the reserved ones are indicated by a cone, so if someone moves the cone it is not obviously reserved so may be occupied by another resident (although when this happened to us, the hotel receptionist soon got the other car moved). Cars may be parked in surrounding roads.
