“great place to stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 22, 2012

We were booked in to the Alcatraz next door for the weekend of the Great North Run 14th-17th September. But the owner, Jackie, took a booking for 11 guys and thoughtfully (thankfully) asked carole if she could take us. We weren't disappointed: a lovely room, excellent facilities and great breakfasts. Carole was able to accomodate our request for an early breakfast on the morning of the run with no bother. There's also, as well as the breakfast room, a little kitchen on the 1st floor with plentiful supplies of tea, bread, coffee, biscuits and cereals which Carole invites you to use at your leisure. All in all a home form home which we have no hesitation in recommending. It's also very central for pubs, restaurants, buses, trains and the beach. We look forward to going back, hopefully in the near future. Thanks, Carole! Robert and Mary xx

Stayed here with a few friends for one nights stay, on arrival the host Carole was brilliant, made us feel welcome and was really friendly. as we didn't know the area she told us where everything is and how to get into Newcastle centre.
Our room was brilliant, very clean and nice and modern! everything we needed was in there, plus tea and coffee facilities! in the morning Carole cooked us a great breakfast which went down q treat after a night out! she can never do enough to help and I would defiantly stay again!

Booked the Ainsley Guest house for 1 night stay for my friends hen party, having never been to Whitley Bay before I had no idea what it would be like or the location but we were not disappointed on arrival we were met with a warm welcome of a lovely lady Carole who showed us to our rooms, lovely clean rooms with all the amenities you need tea/coffee making facilities, tv, en suite etc, we were basically in and straight out but Carole advised were all the bars were which was literally around the corner so fantastic location, we were asked what time we would like breakfast and off we went. Woke up a little hungover just in time for Caroles lovely cooked breakfast and she made sure we all had enough, lovely friendly people. We will definately be booking back up and intend on staying at the Ainsley as far as guest houses go top notch value for money.

I stayed here for a week while at the British chess championship. Great central location, a warm welcome, clean and spacious rooms, recently refurbished, superb breakfast and a seperate kitchen upstairs for guests. I stay in a lot of B&B's, but this is was of the best.
