You’ll also hear about the magnificent stone crosses dotted around the Island’s landscape and find out where you can still see them. Explore 19th Century Peel with a walk around the quayside, complete with traditional sights and smells from the Manx kipper yard, and uncover the importance of the sea to the lives of the people on the Isle of Man. During your journey from past to present you’ll also come face to face with characters telling you stories and superstitions from the Island’s past. An attraction not to be missed!

“not what i expected”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 25, 2013

We did this museum on our last day i thought it would be like other museums, but no actual life like models showing how they lived back to celtic times which would make it more interesting to children especially but also adults,

“An hour & a half well spent.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 21, 2013

Lots audio/visuals along with mockups of building interiors. The displays were all of good quality & interesting enough to keep our attention.

“Not for me”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 17, 2013

It seemed a bit of a mish-mash of things to be honest. All very modern all well put together and probably ideal for bus loads of kids on school days out but didn't really do it for me.

“Good, room for improvement”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 16, 2013

This is an interesting museum - good bits are towards the end including the Viking boat and the 'smells' of life (although no idea what some of the smells were). Supposed to be a childrens play area but it was just a little wooden frame to climb on. Were rubbings for children but the paper was too small and the rubbings were indented rather than raised so don't work well. Upstairs is some colouring and building blocks, best fun was putting on the fishing hats and catching the magnetic fish with my 3 yr old. If you love history you will enjoy this, kids stuff needs improving. Good toilet facities all round, National Trust members free.

“Great for children!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 11, 2013

This would be a great attraction for children on a rainy day. The tableaux are fun but the whole experience is a bit 'lightweight'. Personally we enjoyed Castletown far more.
