Finding a great hotel on IoM is impossible. So what would only warrant 1 or 2 stars elsewhere has to be upgraded here! The facilities are tired but the staff are great and so is the food. The location is pretty handy too.

Room Tip: Try and get a sea view

We were very disappointed to read that John S found our facilities to be 'Tired' as we are constantly refurbishing them, as much as time and budget allows.
With regard to the grading system, I completely agree that the 'guest accommodation' 'B&B' etc. should be removed from the star system as it does confuse customers and 3 or 4 star is not always what they would expect.
However, The Welbeck is a three star HOTEL and having travelled around British Isles, Europe and beyond, usually staying in 3 & 4 star establishments, it seems to us that we have to do far more on the Isle of Man to achieve our gradings.

This hotel is the total package, very friendly staff, clean well appointed rooms, everything you want. Thank you for really good stay, we have stayed in other hotels on the island but they don't compare to this

The hotel is situated behind the Promenade and some rooms have a sea view. The hotel staff were very friendly and the food was lovely, with breakfast cooked freshly for each guest. This is possibly the most cleanest hotel I have ever stayed in and the rooms were spacious with all amenities including a fridge. My only negative thing is the fact that there is no off street parking however parking in the local streets was not a problem. Overall a lovely hotel and I would highly recommend it.

Found all that makes up a hotel to be there, building, staff, food etc.. Well positioned just off seafront , an old building but one that the owners had obviously spent a good deal of time and money on to maintain and improve. Our room was clean and well presented (aided by sea view ) The staff were helpful, polite and friendly. Food served at breakfast and dinner was excellent and good selection on menu.

This was our first visit to the Isle of Man and the the staff at the Welbeck hotel really made us welcome. We had a beautiful and spacious room with views of the sea. The food in the restuarant was excellent and the waiting on staff were most attentive. This is a very clean and well run hotel highly recommended.

Regards

Mr & Mrs R G Kane

Have stayed here a couple of times whilst visiting friends in the Isle of Man ( I used to live there). and would not stay anywhere else. We had a beautiful room both times, deluxe double , you can see the sea, even though you are not on the promenade. Room so spacious and the biggest bed i have ever seen. Great bathroom.Friendly staff and delicious breakfast. I may travel on my own to see friends and i would have no qualms on staying here on my own, something i would never do. It just feels so comfortable and cosy but still a hotel. Did not eat meals in the hotel apart from breakfast as we like to eat out at different places but have heard great reviews. Keep up the good work Welbeck

Room Tip: Deluxe double,, a little more expensive than the ordinary double but well worth it and good value in...

As first time visitors to the island and only the internet as a guide we decided on the Welbeck. At first we were a little disappointed at not being on the sea front but later found this to be a bonus as we heard reports of the sea front hotels being a bit noisy at night! The staff were very helpful and attentive and the room and facilities were more than adequate (we had a sea view which was a bonus). The restaurant was good as were the bar snacks. Public transport is just about 100 yds away and there is street parking. Good lounge areas.
