5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 30, 2013

Hosts were friendly and even though we arrived early afternoon we were taken straight to our room. Breakfasts were very good except that I would have liked a selection of fresh fruit, maybe bananas instead of the same 4 or so apples that were there the whole time we were there. This is only a minor point though. The owner and staff were very helpful and we, especially. were grateful for us being allowed to hang around on the last day and use our room for toilet facilities, as we were not leaving until 2pm for our 4' clock flight. I realise this might not be available if the hotel was full in high season. Good pub restaurant next door and I could recommend the Irish stew. Also, the Aroma restaurant buffet, a few minutes walk towards the centre which had Chinese and Indian buffet. Another good one, The Imperial Dragon Chinese restaurant in the same direction was very nice and did a good buffet too.

Room Tip: Ask for lower room if you are older and don't want to walk up 4 flights of stairs. 25 min walk t...

We have stayed here 3 times recently. The host Carol is helpful, friendly & informal in a positive sense.
The Kings is situated away from the bustle of the town centre conveniently placed between the Queens pub & the Terminus tavern, both of which are great places to eat & drink.
The town centre is about 20-30 minute walk away although in the Summer, you can catch the Horsetram which stops pretty much outside the frontdoor.
The rooms have always been clean, spacious & comfortable. There is a bit of clutter but the large rooms complete with good TVs & power shower make up for this.
Wi-fi is available free although as posted can be a bit iffy the higher you go. but as said, this can be enjoyed in the comfy lounge overlooking the sea.
Breakfast is great with plenty of choice & service efficient.
We've never had a bad nights sleep here & enjoy being woken by the horses going past & looking out of the window of the sea-view rooms.

Overall excellent & we will be staying here again.

Carol was a real gem, friendly and helpful, cant fault the welcome she gave. The room was clean and comfortable and the en suite well cared for. Shower was a bit noisy but that's what you get in a small cubicle with a power shower! Gave good breakfasts and accommodating in our desires for changes. WiFi available but a bit iffy higher up the building, although sitting in the cosy lounge will get you a signal. There are sea views from the front rooms and although a good walk from the town center, the buses are frequent if you don't wish to walk. Would definitely stay again and recommend to anyone.

Room Tip: Sea view rooms will give a bit of traffic noise during the rush hours, but nothing too instrusive.

The Kings House is one of the few Douglas B&Bs that has somewhere secure to store bicycles. Great welcome on arrival and we had a big room on the top floor which was excellent.

The B&B is along the prom from the old town by the harbour, however there are great places to eat within a short walk.
In the morning the breakfast was fine however we felt like we were being rushed out of the door.
Overall still a great place to stay.

Whilst the owner was kind in some ways, the room cleanliness left much to be desired. The soap holder had hairs on it ; we had to wipe the outside of the kettle before we could use it. Also the inside of 2 drawers before we could put our clothes in

What a gem of a place. Carol the host is so friendly and helpful. Food excellent, both in quality and quantity, served quickly. Room spacious and spotlessly clean. The most relaxing holiday on the Island to date. It is further up the promonade but well worth the extra treck. Promenade gardens and sea views from the front rooms. Would definately stay again.

We have just spent a few days in the lovely guest house, right on the front at Douglas. The rooms were excellent and the guests lounge, just perfect with great views along the promanade and of the bay. The breakfast was quickly served and we had plenty of choice.
The owner greeted us on arrival and was most helpful. i would recommend this accomadation to anyone who wants to visit the Isle of Man. Parking outside is plentiful and free. Next door there is a public house which also does food and within a short walk there are both Indian and Chinese eating places.

Room Tip: Front rooms have sea views, but there can be some limited traffic noise
