Having avoided Jaks for years (used to be pretty rough) I was horrified when some friends suggested going for a meal there. Rebranded as a steak house it would have been rude not to go for a steak. Went for the Rib eye and can honestly say it was one of the best I've had - perfectly cooked with a lovely fresh pepper sauce, chips were really good too. Staff were friendly and helpful.
Each time I've been back the steaks have been consistently good. One big disapointment though was the burger. Jaks pride themselves on having their own butcher therefore the choicest cuts etc but their burger is the typical overseasoned compressed standard butchers burger served in a factory made bap that we see in all the Okells pubs on the island. Given the huge success of burgers in blighty at the mo no one seems to have grasped the bull by the horns to make amazing burgers, given Jaks pedigree for serving great steaks lets hope they step up there game in the burger dept too!!
Jaks itself is a fairly bland modern affair inside, lacking atmosphere but for a good steak you can't go wrong.
