A few months ago I booked a three night stay at the Bayhouse Hotel through KGB to celebrate a 'significant birthday' with my husband paying £199 for a three night stay (RRP £303 & supposedly 4*). I booked directly with the hotel & wasn't informed at the time, or subsequently, that the restaurant wouldn't be open, the bar closed at 6pm & there were no staff on the premises after 6pm. (What are the insurance implications of this?) Although spotlessly clean, our bedroom was very small with only one bedside light, curtains that were hung badly & net curtains that hung under the closed curtains. The shower had leaked at some point & the vinyl was stained with greyish black patches where it was discoloured. There was no hair drier & when I asked about this was told I could have asked for one from reception: not helpful when there are no staff in the building. When I queried the facilities the next day the owner's sister insisted that the Bayhouse is really a guest house & we were 'out of season' so the facilities were reduced. However, 'Bayhouse Hotel' displayed on all the sign boards outside, key fobs, menus etc, & the 4* from enjoy Engand prominently featuring on the wall certainly don't give this message & the restaurant & bar were shut from August 27th not exacty low season. Disappointing.
