“All round excellence”

Culloden Estate and Spa

We stayed here after a wedding reception at the same hotel and my only regret is that I didn't have time to truly appreciate the grandeur and luxury of the hotel's facilities and gardens, which even in the rain were evidently well kept. The ladies at reception when we arrived, and when we checked out were polite, courteous and extremely helpful. Our room was spacious and well thought out, and the same applies to the bathroom. The maitre d' did a fine job keeping the wedding plans moving along their intended course; the waiting staff were professional throughout; the food was excellent, both in taste and presentation, and the bar staff were friendly...and patient!
This is a 5* hotel with a 5* tariff, but even the expense for our short stay has faded into insignificance when weighted against the service and style that we experienced at The Culloden Hotel.

Stayed only one night at the Culloden - hands down, the most luxurious king size bed I've ever slept in! Estate grounds were spectacular and the views were stunning. Spa treatment was magnificent, Champagne by the pool, Guiness & football at the pub, followed next morning by an excellent Breakfast Buffet! Best 5 star hotel I've ever encountered. Enjoy!

Have stayed here a few times. Great location - 10 minutes from George Best Airport with fabulous views.

Lovely staff, but each time I visited there was single beds - not good when you're tall.

Food is good. Great for business or pleasure as the hotel has great conferencing facilities. Grounds are good and parking is plenty.

“My Civil Partnership Event”

Culloden Estate and Spa

We arranged our Civil Partnerhsip wedding at this hotel in August 2006, but were disappointed by the attitude of the staff. As natives of Belfast, we always thought the Culldoen was 'Thee' place to have a wedding, and when we decided to get married we immediately chose the hotel. After a successful first meeting we felt confident that we had done right... but on the day we were let down...upon arrival the footman tried to usher my limo and party into the stuart entrance despite numerous conversations about how we would enter. There seemd to be no communication between management & staff. Also there was no red carpet for us upon arrival instead they had placed at the other entrance!!

Our cake was superb and was made by Jenny's cakes, in Bangor but sadly the figurines which so much detail went into as memory & keepsake of the event were destroyed...After the service my partner went to check how the room was being prepared fro dinne,r onlty to notice staff had removed the guest favours from the tabels, when asked why? the waiter replied "they did not look right", when asked to replace them properly the waiter asked my partner to do it!!!! after the dinner and whilst guests were arriving for the evening reception we were left waiting for up to half hour at the bar in the suite for a member of staff to serve us, in the end up 1 of our guests actually spoke to a bar man and said "listen i'm sure this event is not cheap so the least i think i you can do is to have staff on the bar ready to serve", bar was then attended. We had also asked the hotel to ensure the room for the minister was billed directly to us, and we reiterated this several times to them and were assured that it would be... after checking out i received a call from the minister to let me know he had paid for the room, when i asked why? he told me he was asked to settle his bill upon checking out... we were so embarrassed! He wanted to let me know in case we had been billed for it as well... but upon chekcing our bill we were not, AGAIN not what you expect from 5* establishment. We did raise the issues with the management but they were not interested! My point we felt let down by the management of the Culloden and also felt we were targeted on the grounds of our sexuality! I dont think i would ever use the Culloden again, it certainly did spoil to an extent what should have been our "special day".

Have seen a few bad reviews here for this one but can't agree, we had a very pleasant stay there one November weekend, the spa was great - get a hot stone massage. The pool area is lovely, the room was big and bright and had a nice comfy bed, the food was not so good esp. if you are vegetarian but there's plenty good restaurants in Belfast. There was a gift shop that were agents for an antique shop in the lobby, a nice touch, so if you needed any last minute gifts you were sorted.

If you are vege & you want a really nice meal go to the reasonably priced Rankin owned Cayenne on 7 Ascot House, Shaftesbury Square, Belfast, BT2 7DB Tel 028 9033 1532 (they also do carnivore food). Book ahead.
