“No need to puzzle over this place!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 21, 2013

We dined here last night with another couple. The restaurant squeezed us in early evening as they were fully booked. Initial impressions were not particularly favourable as we were sat in the 'shop window' with hardly any other diners in the restaurant and service not particularly swift even so. However things improved as the restaurant got into full swing for a Saturday evening.

We chose from the specials and bistro menu as the dinner menu is not available until 7pm. Even so we were able to mix and match and there was a reasonable selection of dishes on offer. We chose the mushrooms on toast and poached pear and blue cheese starters and they were attractively presented and tasty and we were anticipating our mains. These arrived as the restaurant began to get busier and a little more atmospheric. Choices were scampi, pork belly and a sea bass special with saffron mash and wilted spinach. Everyone enjoyed their main courses with the pork belly being rated highly and portions were good with the possible exception of the sea bass: a little on the small side.

We all opted for a sweet with selections of chocolate pave, lemon posset and the cheese board, the latter with house made fig chutney, which went down very well, with tea and coffee to follow. If anything the restaurant could do with a few more sweet options on the menu.

Altogether with a decent bottle of red the total was over £100 which was considered good value for the quality of food and starters, mains and sweets for four people. Maybe not a venue for a special occasion or romantic meal but well worth a visit for a Saturday evening with friends. In the end an enjoyable meal with good service and we would definitely return to sample the dinner menu. I hope you find this review helpful.

“Never fails to impress!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 16, 2013

Visited Enigma again last night and,as my title states,it never fails to impress.
In addition to an extensive menu there were three seafood specials on offer.
My husband & I both opted for the scallops-absolutely delicious & SO fresh!
The relaxed atmosphere and very attentive staff make Enigma hard to pass by.
I would thoroughly recommend for all occasions.

“Excellent!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 2, 2013

I booked Enigma for a group of 30 ladies. Lesley and her staff were thoroughly prepared for this large gathering. We were served table by table, ensuring that all food was piping hot. The restaurant provided us with a menu to suit our tastes. A thoroughly enjoyable experience and the consensus was that many of us would return in the future!

“Great music sunday”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 28, 2013 via mobile

We arrived on Sunday 28th of April for a birthday party , there were 14 in the party . We were made to feel very welcome by the owner Leslie , and seated promptly . The menu was very good with a choice to suit all tastes , also there was a choice of 3 lovely fish specials . The waiter Tom and waitress Caroline were great , drinks arrived quickly . The music was really good , the atmosphere was good . The food was some of the best I have ever tasted , I went for the pork belly which was Devine . All sweets were home made . All in all a great venue for anyone who loves good food . Price is very reasonable . A well done to Leslie and her staff and thank you for a lovely day .
