“Lovely beach to spend the time in the sun”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 17, 2014

Went here last August, so am sorry for the late review. My partner and I stayed in a holiday apartment just opposite and found the beach a great place to go on the days when we just wanted to lie in the sun. This does depend on the English weather though :) Even though we were there in August in the sun the beach was quite quiet. The only downside was that the only place to get food and drink was the nearby Brewers Fayre which was ok but maybe it's because we are used to spending days on the beach abroad.

It was, however, a great place to spend time in the sun.

“Very good, In and out of season.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 27, 2014

Real old fashioned seaside area, sandy beach, rock pools at one end, terraced gardens at the other. Ice creams and amusement arcade, waterworld and a Pub at the center, away from the maddening crowds but a short walk to Paignton via the harbour path.
Boating lake and adequate if expensive parking, all of Torbay is plagued with officious parking attendants so be warned, no wheels over the lines and not a second late moving out, £60 fines are as common as Pizza handbills.

“Typical British Family Fun”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 7, 2014

Came here many times as a child and have very happy memories of being with my Mom, Dad and sister. Have been back in the last few years with my own family and grandchildren. So glad to see that it still retains the high standard of many years ago. Beautiful sandy beach with the steam train to Dartmouth passing behind you. It is so lovely to sit on the beach waving to the passengers, evoking memories of a bygone age. Many facilities restaurant, take aways, Beach huts, can highly recommend the Devonshire cream teas from the kiosk at the top of the beach, jam and cream in little glass pots (not catering type little sachets). Just marvellous.+

“A walk on the Wild Side”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 4, 2014

It was blowing a gale with seas crashing over the promenade and we loved every minute. It is always a lovely walk along the seafront with open sea views and pleasant surroundings. There has been some major work recently completed to secure the cliff face and improve safety, which should also increase the scenic beauty later this year.
