“Brought my childhood back!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 10, 2013

As we had a free day, my wife and I decided to take this Wonderful and Exciting trip from Paignton to Dartmouth in this lovely Steam Railway. Its only half an hour trip, but its worth evrybit as the train goes through wonderful scenery and its very exciting trip. From Kingswear, we took a foot passenger ferry to Dartmouth which was quite good.We enjoyed the trip.

“Pricey but necessary”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed April 8, 2013

I couldn't find a general review of Dartmouth so I picked this topic.
The ferry to Kingswear is the only real way to get across the river, but to my mind the fare of £1.50 each, each way is a bit stiff (seeing as it only takes about 4 minutes too!). It is however very frequent - every 15 minutes even in the low season, when we visited.
Anyway, that out of the way, Dartmouth is a smashing place to visit. Very attractive, loads of fascinating ancient streets with a lovely river view and the streets themselves are chock-full of quirky little shops, bars, cafes and some quite stunning old architecture. Great for a wander around.

Lovely scenery both sea and then the river. You need a good dry day for this in order to thoroughly enjoy it.

We loved the gentle chug along the track. The scenery was stunning as we approached Dartmouth! A worthwhile treat and good value for money!

buy the ferry combined ticket as there is nothing to do on the train site of the river Dart - you need to go across th Dartmouth
