“Excellent large zoo”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 5, 2013

This is an excellent zoo with plenty to see and do during the day. Currently the highlights have got to be the baby orang-utan and the lion cubs plus the other baby animals. I see lots of reviews saying the animals are hard to spot, surely this is a good thing, gone are the days of animals being on concrete floors and surrounded by metal bars.

“Great day out apart from”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 2, 2013

This is a great day apart from the woman that from what I understand do not work for the zoo but is at the zoo everyday and she is talking to all the animals by name and trying to make out that they all know her. The way she going on you think she was the keeper apart from that great big zoo lots to see good food .great day out. Not cheap if you are local better of becoming a member works out cheaper in the long run if visiting more than twice a year

“What a lovely place”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 29, 2013

Visited the zoo whilst staying in Dartmouth and had a fabulous day. Was very pleased to see there are quite a few birds here as these animals often seem to get missed off. The information is clear and there are staff around to answer questions. There is a very nice area in which to have a picnic (beware the marauding peacocks) and if you have not brought your own food (Morrisons is next to the zoo) then there are places on site in which to purchase food. Pleasantly surprised to see charge for tea/coffee around £1.50 and a veggie burger or similar was about £2.50. Having paid a painful £2.75 for a teeny cup of coffee in Dartmouth we happily paid up (all profits ploughed back into the zoo). Only small gripe is that the shop is chock full of complete tat.
