“Definition of Amazing!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 21, 2013 via mobile

Blown away! Terrific hosts and world-class food, cleanliness, service and last but not least, rates that make you feel like family!

The first thing that strikes you about this place is the cleanliness; meticulous cleaning by Janie (one of the owners) ensures only the best of the best in hygiene.

The location is perfect, 5 minutes through a scenic park and you're on the high street. The beach is also a stones throw from the front door!

The room's decoration may be in need of updating, but this frankly irrelevant aspect does not detract from the overall comfort. Top-notch mattresses, pillows and an arsenal of blankets and soft duvets for those cold winter nights leaves one feeling very comfortable, no matter who you are and how long you stay for. Oh, and did I mention they are cleaned to the highest quality every day?

Service at The Waverley is on par with most, if not all, 'real hotels', in that Janie, Hans and Aaron cater for your every need. The breakfast menu is fully included in the price (no extra charges) and, wow, the breakfast is sublime.. It allows you to select from an armory of food and allows you to pick and choose exactly what you want and exactly how you want it.

Last but not least, the value. The Waverley has 5 star hospitality for extremely reasonable prices. What else is there to say?

Perfect stay, lovely people in a great location. Thank you so much, Janie & Hans Petter. And thank you for the swift and efficient bellboy and waiter, Aaron :) x

Can't really say much else, clean room, comfy bed, great breakfast, great location ( few minutes from beach and high street) and a great host who makes you feel at home. Couldn't complain about one thing.

We booked this hotel last minute the day before and we had a great stay. Janie and hans are lovely, and the rooms were spectacular. Breakfast was delicious. They made us feel very welcome & my beautiful dog lola. Dog friendly hotels are always a bonus! Will be staying again!

Thank you so much for your kind review, although I must point out that the rooms are not spectacular, and need updating, we have completed a couple of rooms, and this is an ongoing process. Funds and time allowing. We are so glad you had a pleasurable stay and welcome you to book with us in the future :)

This was a last minute booking since we were in the area already and wanted to extend our trip. And what a gem we found. I paid full price as an adult and my 7 year old daughter paid half price.

There is parking for 2 cars off street at front - but the cul de sac does get very busy with day trippers looking for free parking so if you don't get a parking space outside the b&b I can imagine you could have difficulty parking. On arrival you are made to feel very welcome. We settled in and then went exploring to get our bearings of Paignton. The location is ideal - just off the promenade and main road, close enough to walk there and to town centre but far enough back to be away from the noise.

The accommodation and room itself (room 3) is dated but it's very clean and comfortable. You've got your complimentary tea and coffee making facilities and even some biscuits. It would be nice to have thicker curtains though to make the room darker as my daughter woke up at 6am with the sun shining in and couldn't get back to sleep as it was so bright.

Breakfast was served at the time you specified when you arrived and what you ordered - a nice touch.

Yes, if we returned to the area I wouldn't hesitate to return to The Waverley :)

Thank you for your kind review. We are sorry that the blind was not adequate enough to keep the light out, we will look into improving that, and yes some rooms are in need of updating, this is an ongoing process, we have completed a couple of rooms, which sadly you never saw, hopefully on a return visit you'll be placed in one of those.
Just to clarify the parking issue, we have 2 additional spaces at the rear of the property :)
Thank you very much for your feedback, we really appreciate it :)
Kind regards.

We stayed at the Waverley Guest House for five days in July. We arrived and was greeted warmly by Janie, who turned out to be the most likeable landlady ever. We were shown to our room, which was nicely furnished, but spotlessly clean, with an extremely comfortable bed, tea and coffee making facilities, and even a range of shampoos and soaps in the en suite bathroom if required. After an evening meal at a restaurant we had a very comfortable nights sleep, and went down to breakfast, the menus had been placed in our room the night previous, to enable us to tick off our choices - which were quite comprehensive - and very quickly our cooked breakfasts arrived, well cooked and presented, and very tasty.
Janie made us feel like one of the family, and there were no silly rules about coming and going, we were given keys to the doors, and could come and go as we liked.
The location was one road back from the main road, and all the amenities were in easy walking distance, and better still, car parking was available at the Waverley, a boon in Devon, where any empty space appears to breed a parking meter!!
As mentioned earlier Janie and Petter were very welcoming, and made us feel at home, the downstairs had a lounge, with books, games, television and even an x-box for gaming, with very comfortable settees and chairs to relax in. WiFi was also available downstairs which is always a nice touch.
Nothing was too much trouble for Janie, even keeping our coolblocks frozen daily, nice touch, as these were the hottest days of this year.
Normally we holiday in a caravan in England, but we will definitely return to the Waverley at some time in the future - as a matter of interest prices were very keen also for the high season

Room Tip: Any room is a good room
