“lovely stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 17, 2014

stayed last weekend Friday and Saturday night. Lovely location to stay in. Had a lovely room with a seaview (33) which was on the top floor with only 3 other rooms.
We did not mind the stairs leading up to our room as we could see the sea from our bed.
Lovely clean and spacious room with everything we needed. Did the meal deal as we usually do, loved the food.

The Premier Inn itself does what it says on the tin. Perfect. Its the Brewers Fayre next door who need shutting down and starting again from scratch. Breakfast is a joke. People wait for seats whilst staff ignore the dirty tables. Never enough clean bowls or cutlery you have too constantly ask. None of the staff know what they are actually doing - the place would benefit from a manager with "common sense" and a back bone to enforce it. the food is kept under heat lamps and is drier than the sahara desert! Disgusting. Thats if you get any food at all - we waited for an hour on the second day only to be told it was on its way, about 15 mins.... really?? It doesnt take 1hr 15 mins to cook egg and bacon.
The manager spilt milk whilst attempting to clear us a table and wiped it with a napkin. Badly. It continued to drip onto the fabric seat cover... which was in a nice sunny, warm conservatory - that will curdle and stink!!!
Evening meals arent much better - they again are self service and kept under heat lamps. Gradually dehydrating and looking very unappetising!! 4 members of staff were working the bar but only 1 had access to a key to use the till.. I only know this because I could her them talking. All with their backs to me... Not one of them had the manners to explain to me or the 5/6 people waiting behind me. They just continued there little chats!!!
Service / food / staff - all a disgrace.. Unfortunately I wont stay here again. I'll choose the new White Rock Premier Inn a couple of miles up the road instead.

We arrived just after 9am on our first day. I went to reception and collected a carpark pass which allows you to park for free during the duration of your stay. The car park is a decent size and over the 4 days there was always spaces available.

We checked in quickly and the lady explained everything well. Our room number 28 was on the first floor and 27 steps up and down and around corridors it seemed like miles from reception! It was worth it our room was really nice probably one of the best PI rooms weve had. The room was a corner room and had two windows one looking out to sea and one looking over the pub garden. Bigger than the standard PI room.

The hotel is on the beach next door to Quay West Splash Down Water Park and a couple of minutes walk to Goodrington Steam Railway Station. The number 12 bus into Brixham and Paignton stop on the main road a couple of minutes walk away. We walked into Paignton along the coastal footpath which takes about 20 minutes and is steep in parts. The zoo isnt far away. We walked which took 25 minutes but its up a very steep hill.

Our room had a double bed and a sofa bed. TV desk and chair hairdryer and kettle tea coffee and milk. Plenty of storage space. Very comfortable bed and pillows. The bathroom was clean and we had 2 large towels and one hand towel between us? I did request another hand towel. Im not sure why this PI only leave one hand towel in each room? Our shower gel ran out and I had to go to reception to get a replacement during our stay.

On the second day on return that the carpet was still dirty and our dirty towels that we left on the floor in the bathroom had been folded up and placed back on the towel rack. When we came back on Friday evening our toilet paper hadn't been checked and replaced. I went to reception again and spoke to a young lady who said she would sort me out with extra tea sugar and milk and toilet paper which she did. On our return from our night out we collected it and I spoke to the lady on reception about our dirty towels being folded back up to reuse. She adviced that dirty towels would have to be placed in the bath and not on the floor to be replaced even though they were dirty?

We stopped 3 nights/4 days I had to visit reception every day for something that really should of been checked everyday. Tea/milk, toilet paper, dirty towels and dirty carpets. We leave our room tidy and even pull our bed up so not really a hard room to clean. There was a piece of something under our bed and by our door when we arrived and they were still there went we left which is not good enough as I told the lady on reception who wrote it in the log book. I would of expection to return the next day to find the room cleaned and not have to go to reception for shower gel.

Although on the sea front over the pub/Brewers Fayre there was never any noise day or night internal or external. This hotel was very quiet even with Engalnd playing in the World Cup. The room temperature was really good spot on. We didnt have breakfast nor after reading the reviews on the Brewers Fayre did we eat there. The smell of over used burnt fat that is always lingering around the carpark and hotel foyer was enough to put us off.

Overall a great location you wouldnt get a better view. The reception staff are all very pleasant and knowledgeable however the room service is very poor and lets this hotel down it needs better management.

This Inn is located overlooking the bay in Paignton, which affords great vies and has a excellent outdoor are to have drinks and enjoy the scenery.

Everything was as one expect at premier Inn, until I noticed the Toilet Bowl was quite badly cracked, which is most unhygienic and also a breading ground for nastie's.

Shame this Inn does not check such things

You can't get nearer to the sea than this and stay dry!
Premier Inn prices per room are a bit of a lottery but bargains are available if you're lucky.
Comfy quiet hotel. Brewers Fayre restaurant busy with families and can be noisy. Not the best Brewers Fayre I have used re quality of food but OK

This hotel as usual with Premier Inns was clean and tidy. The guy on reception was really helpful and staff friendly. Our room was in the new part over looking the sea. You could get no better views than that. The food in the afternoon at the Brewers Fayre could have been better but breakfast once again was great with lots of options and plenty of coffee. It is within easy walking distance to the town and all attractions. We would definitely go back to this hotel.

Staff / rooms / all tip top. Only problem was the noise level in the restaurant on our first night.& we were given a poor table likely this was as we we were a couple & could be put in a corner without taking up too much room ! We rectified this by dining out the following evening..
