Being Yorkshire and a bit fussy about my fish and chips I am slowly trying out all the fish & chip restaurants/take aways in Paignton. I decided today was the turn of Squires, I made my order which was for the advertised special and asked if the ketchup was on the tables (as it is in other very good establishments nearby!) I was informed that the ketchup was sold in sachets at 30p each as 'some people were taking advantage', I then said 'well I won't be coming here again then' to which she replied 'most people don't mind paying'. OK, two things wrong with that, 1. the customer is always right and 2. most people DO mind but the geat British public don't like to make a fuss!
What is wrong with having sauce bottles on the tables?
So, the plate of Fish & chips appeared and I have to say even ketchup would not have covered up the god awful chips, tried drowning them in salt & vinegar but were still dry and tastless. The fish was OK but not good enough to go back there.
The staff need to cheer up, customer service needs a lot of improvement.
