“Park and ride nearby.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 1, 2013

Great value budget hotel.Stayed for Durham Uni Open Day so quite busy but handled efficiently by staff. Clean ,comfortable and plenty of hot water. Meals taken next door were very good with friendly staff. Recent road works are causing a diversion so prepare for detour! Durham park and ride very close by. Would definitely stay here on my next visit to Durham.

Don't be put off by the slightly shabby entrance or the roadworks (no noise from them but blocking off the normal SatNav approach) because the inside is up to the usual standard and the reception and ther staff efficient and welcoming.

The restaurant next door is good and service quite slick. Although large enough, it is broken up by partitions to create nooks and crannies to suit all. The Fish'n'chips were great, washed down by a pint of Black Sheep.

I have been using Premier (Travel) Inns for about 30 years and have never been disappointed. This one is no exception.

Stayed here for the Great North Run 2013. The hotel was very clean and seems to have been recently refurbished. Our room (14) was quiet. Special mention to the staff, especially Rhona on reception who was incredibly friendly and helpful. She arranged taxis and booked a table at the onsite restaurant for us (the staff here were also very friendly).

We didn't see any of Durham as were only there for the run...

It is a pity PI cannot put pop-ups on hotel pages to indicate major disruption to a road system. I feel sorry for the reception staff who must be fed up with customers arriving, muttering about the lack of diversion signs for the hotel from suitable points on the A690.

However, the staff were very helpful, room clean as usual, and the area quiet. Breakfast was cooked to order so came out hot and looking fresh.

Stayed for 3 nights and was impressed by the friendliness of the staff. For a budget hotel the quality of the room was really good. Meals were taken in an ajdacent building and again the staff were extremely helpful. Breakfast is more than sufficient bening a combination of self-service and ordered (for the cooked English). For the evening meal the the choice was reasonable and the portions more than acceptable.
The only down side was that the side of the building in which we were staying was next to the service road to the adjacent business park and traffic started going passed from fairly early in the morning.
Very convenient for Durham City and the A1M - especially when the major roadworks have been completed.

Room Tip: Avoid rooms that back on to the service road unless you are an early riser

Stayed here for 2 nights recently. Staff extremely friendly and helpful. Room as you expect from premier inn, clean and spacious. Went for dinner next door, food fine and helpful, friendly staff. Convenient location for Durham and Newcastle.

My partner and my parents stopped for one night. It was clean and excellent value for money. The restaurant was very good. Staff professional but have I stayed in more friendlier Premier Inn's. None the less they did do a professional job, and have only one complaint, which applies to ALL Premiere Inn's in my experience, can a small fridge please be put in the rooms, I took one with us, and because the rooms are not air conditioned a lovely cool juice went down well, but it would be alot easier if there was a fridge inside the room rather than take one with us.

An enjoyable stay though.

Room Tip: Our room was adequate, very clean as normal, but again missed having a small fridge. We had a ground...
