“Super location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 27, 2013

Stayed for 3 nights March 2013. Paid upgrade to business class room and we were allocated a room with the river view. Room was spacious and very comfortable. The free bar from 5.30 - 7.00 was good, however note that this is not available on a Sunday. Breakfast presented a wide variety of options, had to seek someone out each morning to request coffee, on the whole it was very good. Gym and pool facilities were clean and well looked after. Would definitely use again if I ever go back.

Room Tip: Request river view. Upgrade to business class, it is worth it.

Situated on the riverbank just a short walk to pubs and shops this hotel is in the perfect place.Very modern decoration with a large reception area bar and restaurant. The room a twin, was spacious and well decorated, with a large bathroom with bath and shower. The room also had a hair dryer iron and ironing board and a fridge, tea making facilities and a nice array of toiletries. The pool area was quite big with Jacuzzi, steam room and sauna, ideal for a relaxing afternoon, with showers, hair dryers and straighteners. The breakfast a buffet style had a large selection, with most things, and served up till 12 noon, perfect with a check out at 12 too. A great hotel with helpful and friendly staff, could not want much more.

Situated right on the riverside, it's only a few minutes walk across the bridge into the heart of Durham. Pleasant spa facilities, clean and well-maintained gym and a great breakfast buffet selection although the coffee was over-brewed. Wifi is slow and a bit patchy but overall the hotel is perfect for a break in this charming little city.

Stayed for 2 nights March 2013. Perfect location friendly staff. The knowledgeable Victoria in the restaurant persuaded us to try some "specials". Her obvious enthusiasm convinced us to try the chocolate / coffee lamb. As a result three committed "meat & two veg" men were treated to a new experience. Thank you Victoria for exciting our jaded palates.

Nice hotel, large airy rooms, and top notch bathroom. Lovely pool & spa etc. The free wifi starts to crawl in the evenings, & 3G on O2 very patchy. I'd have given it 5 stars had the pillows been better.

Stayed here for a couple of nights in March 2013. The staff were polite and helpful. The hotel itself is in a good location, just a short walk over the bridge to the centre. Only a couple of minor points. I'd emailed the hotel a couple of weeks before to ask about some of the treatments at the spa and received no response, because of this I didn't feel encouraged to use any of the hotels additional facilities and dined elsewhere while we were there. Also, the hotel was incredibly warm for the 2 nights we were there. We turned the room heating down as low as it would go but had to keep the windows open for our entire stay. Aside from that these were minor points to an otherwise delightful stay.

Stayed here several times, parking right behind the hotel.

Check in staff are always friendly and efficient.

Rooms are very comfortable and the beds always comfy for me. The rooms are very quiet as the hotel is away from the road.

Food has always been very good but drinks are a bit pricey. Breakfast has a great selection of fresh fruit. Cooked breakfast is always to a high standard too.

I have never used teh leisure facilities but I will next time I stay.

Iron and ironing board in the room and hairdryer.

I really like this hotel and is always my first choice when staying in teh North East.

Room Tip: They are all good, business class is worth the upgrade.
