Owner description: Winner of the Gold award for best attraction in the South-west 2012, Exmoor Zoo has become an ideal family day out. The zoo has established a good rapport with the North Devon community and offers a very hand on experience for all its visitors.Activities run throughout the day (every half hour in summer), you get to meet a bird eating spider, hold a snake, feed wallabies (under supervision), meet some of the zoos friendly furry animals and of course go to all the talks and feeding sessions (if you can)!Home to the “Exmoor Beast” (a pair of black leopards), Puma, Cheetah, Maned wolves, monkeys and lots of other unusual animals like Tamandua, Fishing cats, Tapir, Singing dogs and Binturong to just name a few! The zoo is a living place with changes all the time; no visit is ever quite the same.Useful information:• Disabled access (wheelchair provision and scooter hire)• Activities through out the day• Cafeteria• Children’s playground• Undercover picnic areas• Zoo trail.

“Simples, The Best”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 27, 2011 via mobile

We have been to many many Zoo's and Wildlife Parks, we live just down the road from Port Lympne, but have to say that Exmoor Zoo is Simples the best.

This was our third visit and as other reviewers have said gets better each time. It may not be the biggest Zoo, infact its quite compact, but the enclosures are pretty natural and allow the animals to feel at home. An added bonus this time was to hold "Simples", a hand reared Meercat!!

The cafe/ restaurant is also very reasonably priced and on a cold day like today a nice hot drink was very welcome.

“Great find”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 8, 2011

Lovely zoo nestled in the side of the valley with a great range of animals to view, and in some cases, handle too! The highlight was the time spent with Simples, an "abandoned" Meerkat who is being hand-reared. The educational talks/displays are well worth attending and a whole day soon disappears!

“An Excellent Day whenever we visit......”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 7, 2011

We have visited this Zoo for several years & have watched it modernise it's enclosures & extend. Such a lovely place to visit. Excellent value for money £27.50 2 adults 1 teenager (visited October 2011).There are activites approx every 30 minutes all day long from 11am to 4.15pm. The activites range from Feed & Talk, to holding furrys, to touching snakes, stroking bugs.... the list goes on.
Our greatest experience this visit was holding a Meercat! He had been raised by hand. He was lovely & it was a fantastic.
It's a fantastiic Zoo well worth a visit. You need a day to enjoy all the experiences we arrive just after opening & leave when it's almost closing time. Excellent value for money.
The cafe offers a selection of hot & cold meals, drinks, cakes & snacks. Reasonable priced & tastes lovely.
There are also picnic area seating around the Zoo to eat your own packed lunches. There is a new playground looks great. (Didn't try it out though too old!!! ) There are trampolines too. All free.
Thank you Exmoor Zoo for yet another memorable day out.
Well worth a visit.

“a great day out whatever the weather”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 7, 2011

Exmoor Zoo in North Devon is a fab place to take kids of all ages. The animals are well cared for and they have a great activity programme on all day long so you can get up close and personal with a lot of animals. Food onsite is reasonable and fairly well priced. Picnic areas and a good play area too for all ages not just little ones. Thise with wheelchairs or baby buggies can get around most areas.
