“Furness Abbey Cumbria's hidden jewel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 29, 2013

Furness Abbey is steeped in history and one of Cumbria's hidden jewels, it is worth making the short detour off the main road into Barrow-in-Furness. The Abbey is situated at the rear of Abbey House Hotel, Abbey Road.

“Great for visitors”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 29, 2013

You can get a headset, that you can choose different languages from, and it gives you a commentary as you walk around the Abbey, which is great for adults and older children. There is a popular local story that there is a tunnel from the Abbey that runs all the way to Piel Island, although it's never been found!

“Lovely location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 27, 2013

Furness Abbey is a good place to visit and has a tea room just down the road which I think would be better if the tea room was on site.
