Description: Linthwaite House Hotel restaurant overlooking Lake Windermere in the sublime Lake District is a very special place indeed. With views that would have thrilled Wordsworth, Linthwaite House Hotel has chosen luxurious, tasteful interiors to please even the most jaded urbanite and the kitchen, under chef Simon Bolsover, is daring and modern too. Fresh, local ingredients conspire in a signature dish like 60 Degree Herdwick Lamb with braised neck kataifi, cep and kidney risotto. Choose from light lunch menu on the terrace, daily changing table d’hote menu or simpler a la carte in the elegant dining room, with its vast mirror collection, in the evenings, vegetarian menu, or trad Sunday lunch, all accompanied by a blistering global wine list.

“Fab 1st class dining experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 30, 2012

We dont often dine first class, so we were curious to see how the evening would go. Overall we had a fantastic time, the atmosphere and sservice was spectacular. Our meals were well balanced and tasty, and wine choice is second to none. This is obviously not a cheap establishment to dine at (AUD 260 incl pre dinner and after dinner drinks), but we truly felt we got our monies worth. Would not hesitate reccommending to anyone looking for a 1st class dining experience, in a beautiful country house setting.

overcharged on a £52. p.p. dinner charged for pre dinner drinks when the web site the only extra charge would be for coffee and petit fours and it also said that service and tax was included and they then said that tips were not service, well I have worked as a hotel receptionist when I was younger so i do know that is a lie and to charge me £10 for a vodka and cranberry was over the top. When i phoned them they said that i had got it wrong so I checked when iu came home and i did not get it wrong, they did

“Cordon Bleu”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 19, 2012

When we booked we told the restaurant that we don't eat meat or shellfish and that we particularly enjoy halibut. They said they would tell the chef. Not only was halibut on the menu but there were several choices from each course that we could choose. Plus a vegetarian menu. The canopes were also vegetarian. Everything was beautifully presented and served with a smile, in a well-appointed spacious room. We could not fault the room or staff and would certainly like to repeat the experience.
