“Nice Chareter Hotel particularly if you like a sauna !”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 10, 2013

Actually this is a really nice place....olde worlde but the bedroom was SO hot....the radiators were off but the towel rail in the bathroom was belting it out and there seemed to be underfloor heating in the bathroom which CAN be nice but....

The bed was huge and comfortable but I could only give "Comfort" three blobs because it was so hot in there.

Bizarrely, you couldn't open the windows....there was a "suicide bar" on them just in case you might be tempted to jump so the window would open just about an inch !!

Otherwise nice place, atmospheric, friendly service, nice breakfast....very distant lake views.

Hello BigBikerBob
Thanks for your review of Lindeth Howe Country House Hotel. I’m sorry to hear that your bedroom was to hot because of the towel rail was on, if you would have asked a team member we would have been more than happy to turn it off for you. But apart from that small issue its good to hear that you enjoyed your stay with us.
The team and I look forward to welcoming you back to Lindeth Howe in the very near future.
Best Wishes All at Lindeth Howe

Me and my partner stopped at the Hotel on bonfire night and managed to find it despite the Sat Nav sending us up some tight country lanes. The grounds of the hotel are very nice and it's very secluded. Upon arrival we managed to get parked up at the front of the hotel and entered the hotel through the main entrance. The reception is in a small room off to the right which is a bit cramped and felt like the checking in procedure was a chore for the staff. We were speaking to the receptionist and dealing with us and then the phone rang and she picked up the phone which was a bit rude I though. The hotel room was very nice and the bed was massive, the bathroom could do with a paint but the room was generally nice and comfortable. To use the swimming pool you had to be let in by staff so back down to reception which was again very busy but we asked if we needed towels for the pool area and got told there was towels in there so in we went after the staff had entered the code for us to enter and there was no clean towels which was annoying so we abandoned the pool and just went back to the room. The fireworks were on which was great and we really enjoyed it. The bar area was very warm and cosy with the fire burning and you could get WiFi there which was good. You can't get WiFi in the room, even though they advertise it. Why advertise WiFi if you can't get it in the room? Breakfast was very nice and the staff were helpful and the checkout is 11am which was great for us. It's about a five minute drive into Bowness but I imagine it would be a great base for walkers. Would I stop here again? Possibly, it was a good night away but not a great night away.

Hello r1gby1983
Thank you for your review of Lindeth Howe. I have passed on your comments to the heads of departments at the Hotel who are looking in to why we had no towels in the pool area and why the receptionist answered the phone while they were checking you in. with regard to the door into the pool area being closed this is a recommendation from the local health and safety officer as we do not have a life guard they suggest that we have to pool locked at all times.
Kindest Regards

Attended the Firework display at the Lindeth Howe on 5th November 2012 but didnt stay overnight as we had pre booked elsewhere. It was so spectacular an event that I promised myself I would return this year and stay in the Hotel to make a special occasion of it. I remember looking up at the rooms overlooking the firework display and thinking how wonderful it would be to stay in one of those but felt that they would probably be booked. I couldnt believe my luck after booking a vgv for money room with olo hotels that my dream had come true when they showed me into my room overlooking the garden and the firework display. We were made really welcome and the room was spotlessly clean and lovely and warm. Nice breakfast in the morning served by lovely young ladies. What a treat. Will be booking room ? next year sorry cant say in case you beat me to it. Thankyou all at this most wonderful beautiful Hotel in stunning position.

A two day stay here was thoroughly enjoyed. The helpful staff gave us a warm welcome and the room was spotless and well appointed although a loose light fitting wobbled when someone walked around in the room above. WiFi did not work in the room as advertised but we were able to connect in the cosy lounge area.

We had dinner in the main restaurant. Food was for the most part first rate, the scallops beautifully prepared and the lamb cooked to perfection. The duck was cooked exactly as ordered and the accompanying garnishes entirely appropriate. Dessert of Tarte Tatin was not a success however as it had been incorrectly prepared.

Breakfasts were delicious, hot and tasty. Coffee however was too strong for our taste. Service in the dining room in the evening could be improved by some more hands on direction but the overall experience at the hotel was very good.

What more can I say other than from the moment we arrived to the minute we departed we were well looked after by the friendly and professional team at Lindeth Howe.

On arrival we were greeted with a very warm welcome, the rooms were not quite ready as we had arrived a couple of hours early however this didnt stop us enjoying a very nice lunch with coffee.

We were allocated a delux room with a view of the lake (107), the room was great, a nice size, very well presented with superb views.

We stayed on a DBB basis and my wife and I decided to go for the taster menu - we made a very good. We have stayed before at Lindeth however my wife and I both agreed the food was even better than the last visit and it was excellent then.

Breakfast was very nice with a good choice and again as with our evening meal the service was superb (and friendly).

All in all despite terrible weather we had a great weekend break made all the better by the staff at the Lindeth Howe.

We will definitely be back to stay soon.

Room Tip: Couple go for room 107 if you can, great view and a nice size room

We stayed at Lindeth Howe overnight on a Travelzoo voucher, which was excellent vfm. Afternoon tea on arrival, 3-course dinner, bed and breakfast. The hotel itself is homely and comfortable...makes you want to stay indoors and hunker down! We were greeted warmly and offered afternoon tea as our room wasn't quite ready. The set menu included a hazelnut brownie and we asked for a nut-free alternative, which we did manage to get but were made to feel a bit of a nuisance.
The room itself was very pleasant; on the small side but warm and comfy. Filter coffee and hot chocolate were a nice touch and were very welcome. The evening meal was very good and the service excellent. After dinner drinks were taken in one of the many sitting areas. This is where I think the Lindeth Howe has missed a trick: each sitting room/area was welcoming and filled with comfy furniture but only one had an open log fire; the others were imitation gas and there was one electric.
Breakfast the following morning was excellent, as was the service.
All in all, a lovely short break and good value for money. Don't go expecting a 'grand' house; Lindeth Howe is more of a sumptuous country home.

Previous reviews say it all - worthy of a stay even for a couple of nights. Food excellent, dinner top end of price range for locality. Wi-FI a bit erratic on 2nd floor but other than that niggle, cant fault the hotel.

Room Tip: 203 has good views over lake, bit quirky but being at top of hotel, ideal for that extra quality and...
