“Great for a family weekend away”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 7, 2013

We had a great time over the August Bank holiday weekend staying at the Burnside. We love this place. I had nan and two kids with me and we stayed in a large family room in the original part of the hotel. It was great - spacious with great views over the lake. We didn't plan too but having done so much each day we ate in the hotel each night and we all loved it. George the barman/ waiter made our children's day- fussing over them, bringing them mocktails and generally making them feel special. He will do a lot to make the Burnside special for lots of people.

I don't know what rooms the photos are from but defo not the one I stopped in. I have stopped in my fair share of best westerns and unfortunately this one was one at the lower end. My room (decor+equiptment)was dated, with single glazed windows, drizzling shower (with old shampoo bots left) tiling from the 80s and a bed that leaves much to be desired! The breakfast however and leisure club more than made up for the unfortunate room choice. Would visit again but only if it was an offer etc.

We booked this hotel on a special dinner bed breakfast deal. With the price we paid we imagined the hotel to be a little tired and we were also expecting to eat out the second night. We were surprised that the hotel looked newly refurbished and was of a good clean modern standard. The restaurant was also a suprise, tastefully decorated and the good and service were second to none. The food was so good we eat in both nights and both meals were fantastically presented and more importantly tasty. The location of the hotel could not be beaten as its minutes from the local amenities. The only slight moan would be that the room was slightly small, but the patio area of the room made up for this. We shall be returning

We have just returned from a nights stay at The Burnside and we are absolutely over the moon. We have booked our wedding to be held here, and the manager of the hotel Pauline is amazing. Nothing is to much trouble, the room we stayed in was stunning, and on arrival there was fruit and chocolates to hand, and fluffy dressing gowns on the bed. We ate in the restaurant, and the food was out of this world, that as well as very attentive staff, who pulled out all the stops for us. ( we especially love the lad who was on reception when we arrived, and was also waiting on in the restaurant not sure of his name but he is lovely) and absolute asset to the hotel. I am so excited about our upcoming wedding in October, as I know that my day will be absolutely perfect. Thanks again Pauline for a perfect stay. Sending lots of love and we will see you again very soon. Ian and Vanessa. xx

Room Tip: Treat yourself to the honeymoon suite room 108.

The hotel is in a great location 5 minutes walk to the lake, shops and restaurants. We had an evening meal which was good as was the service. Our room was excellent and we took our baby and she was well catered for and the room was of ample size.
The service we received off Pauline the manager and the rest of the staff was great and they made us feel really special. We would defianatley book a return visit, excellent stay.
Thanks guys Paul, Lisa and baby Ruby.

We recently stayed at the Burnside Hotel, On arrival it was easy to park in the car park, the staff at reception were very efficient and helpful. Our family room was Lovely and spacious. We had almost like a mini apt with two bedrooms, bathroom, hall with fitted wardrobes and patio door leading to a veranda. Rooms were nicely decorated. The food was excellent value and cooked to a good standard. The hotel was within easy walking distance of a couple of minutes to the Lake, shops, busses and boats. the kids enjoyed the swimming pool and our teenage son also enjoyed using the gym.

Room Tip: Room 131 was great for families

Stayed here 1 night with B&B and apart from a few little problems would have been great. Check-in was straightforward and we went to our room which felt a bit on the tiny side. However all the things you'd expect were in place, tv, kettle, tea etc. Bathroom clean and functional, shower good.
Decided to eat in the restaurant and reserved a table for later. We arrived on time for our table, were sat down and then spent 10 minutes waiting to be given a menu! After that our order was taken and our first course arrived in a reasonable time, but now weren't offered any bread, again that was sorted after asking, but it might have been nice if any sort of apology was offered. Main course arrived which we both thoroughly enjoyed. Breakfast was buffet style and again the food was great. But my wife noticed a waiter took a fork from my place setting whilst I was at the buffet and never replaced it!??? So again I had to ask. So would we go back - yes, would we hope the service was a little more polished - yes.
