“Nice food, good location.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 20, 2013

Clean, spacious hotel. Rooms vary, several large, but with mix of styles some refurbished. Evening meals and breakfast enjoyable with good variety available. Comfortable sitting areas and nice pool and spa area.

Room Tip: Ask for a refurbished room if available. Avoid 'dog room' on 3rd floor.

Lovely hotel, clean room but bed could have been bigger and more comfortable. Good spa facilities and nice breakfast.

Great location not far from the lake.

Overall a lovely stay but not recommended if you're looking for a bargain!

If you want an honest opinion then look no further. We are very well travelled family and know a good hotel when we see one. It's not 4 star, but in our opinion it's almost there. The Family rooms are the best we have ever stayed in, considering that they are spacious with an extra tv and a door separating the double room, perfectly safe within one room, we felt like we had an apartment! Public areas are beautiful and have been refurbished, rooms have lovely outlooks but some do need updating, please don't be put off. Location is great, 5 minute walk from the centre (if that), but be aware of the steep hill to and from the hotel, though you can choose an alternative route which is better. Staff are friendly and helpful. We don't want to find any fault with this hotel because we loved it. Pool and snooker area great, though air con was broke so a little warm. We would definitely return. Before we forget, breakfast was faultless and my husband is a fussy one. Enjoy your stay

We booked a dog friendly room and whilst the staff were dog friendly it seemed odd that we were on the top floor in the room that was furthest away from the door. Furthermore our room was very dated with old fashioned dark wood furniture which made the room seem very oppressive. Having said that the bathroom had been completely modernised so why update the bathroom and not the room itself? It was not worth the £145 we paid.

Room Tip: All our friends had the same type of rooms so its hard to help potential visitors

We stayed here in April with friends. We had a KGB offer which was very good value.
Our accommodation was very clean and bright. Breakfast had a good choice,
We also had a lovely evening meal in the restaurant the first evening.
The hotel is in a great position being just a few minutes walk into Bowness, We would stay here again .

We stayed for two nights at the end of April on a kgb deal. Reception staff were very welcoming and helpful. My partner had a balloon flight on the second morning of our stay so I asked if a breakfast pack could be arranged as we were leaving about 6.00am. We were told that there would be a continental breakfast available and the night porter would make coffee for us. So far, so good! We were shown to our room which was clean and spacious with a lovely modern en-suite and a view of Windermere in the distance. Things didn't go according to plan with the balloon ride as due to weather conditions we were notified that we had to travel to Penrith and be there for 5.45! Reception staff were brilliant getting us an AA route map at 11.20pm and said breakfast would be no problem at 4.30!! I wish I had taken a photo of the breakfast, it was beautifully laid out in the hallway with comfy sofas to sit on and included cheese, ham, fruit, Danish pastries and coffee. With a brilliant location just up the road from Bowness town centre and all I have mentioned I cannot fault this hotel and will definitely be back.
