after reading some good reviews we sought this place out on a recent visit , what a disappointment! firstly , this is not a restaurant , shabby decor definately in need of a good paint, dirty carpets, cheap formica topped tables, no table linen, paper napkins etc.more akin to a cheap cafe. When we arrived there was nobody in the downstairs greeting area and we were there quite a few minutes before someone arrived to show us to a table in the upstairs area. The staff were pleasant and attentive no complaints there, the reviews I read said the food was excellent this is why we came ,so we ordered. The dahl soup was thin and watery with italian breadsticks? floating in it but were soggy by the time it arrived ,The mulligatawny soup was much better but still with soggy breadsticks! Shop bought Thai fishcakes with a spoonful of tomato based sauce on top , after that we had tandoori king prawns ,well enough cooked about the right colour but no flavour , they hadn`t been marinated long enough for the spices to penetrate, The curries Lamb Dansak, Jhingha masala,Naga chilli ,were fine with lots of thick sauce , rices were ok too , tarka dahl was not much thicker than the soup with no visible lentils. we declined any dessert;. To sum up, everyone who contributed a review and gave this place 5 stars are all entitled to there opinions and I am pleased they enjoyed their experience. I tried to be constructive with my opinion,I just felt it lacked restaurant quality with below average decor and average food
