“A lovely place to stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 8, 2011 via mobile

What a great place. Located a few minutes walk from the lake and town centre, this is a super b&b. Our room could be called compact, but it had all we needed, except a shelf in the big shower cubicle. A small thing, but annoying in a 5* b&b. A lovely breakfast and wonderful staff added to a great stay. Recommended.

stayed for our honeymoon april 2011 in the sanctuary suite. the sanctuary is amazing, detached from the main building in the car park around the back of the hotel on a quiet back road. my new wife was gobsmacked when we entered the room , the crystal glass bath blew us away, the huge bed, headboard, pillows fantastic, remote control fire and bose sound system in all rooms and outside was great , the outside hot tub on top of all that(plus much much more) really did make her face a picture, she had no idea what the room was like and the surprise was emotional, she knew the price of the stay but we agreed it was worth it, it's unique and for that, in the lakes you have to be prepared to splash out! we ordered breakfast in our room, with a good menu, it arrived on time and with a smile!. the service is wonderful just ring reception and your request is promptly carried out and purchases or free dvd's delivered to the room. this place is pure luxury a one off and cant reccomend enough.

We booked The Cranleigh lastminute as the hotel we usually stay at was full..and thank god it was full, or we may have never found this gem. Its in a great place just a stroll down to the lake and to the bars and restaurants. We highly recommend Bodega bar for its fab atmosphere and delicious cocktails which were a little pricey but worth it. Also the Mela Indian restaurant, service was fabulous and food just gorgeous and great value for money (pricey wine).

The receptionist were lovely, polite and helpful it seemed nothing was to much trouble. The room was light and airy, spotlessly clean and stylish and the bed was the comfiest weve ever slept in (even better than our own).

What made it for us was the luxury bathroom with spa bath the perfect place to have a soak, drink wine and watch Britains got talent on repeat :-). The mood lighting in the bath was just great...i want one.

The hotel provides a list of there huge dvd collection just choose your dvd ring down and they bring it up...same for any drinks you may like, theres also a complimentry turn down service which is a lovely extra touch.

Breakfast was lovely, there is a cold table with milk, juice, yoghurt and cereal to help yourself from. The waitresses were nice and friendly and served you your meal from the hot food menu. We had the full english with lots of toast..it was delicious.

We will certainly be going back to this hotel....... and cant wait.

Room Tip: Our room was luxury Room 11

We couldnt find much to fault here. The location is loveley just a couple of minutes walk from the lake and heart of bowness. Our room wasnt the biggest and the bathroom could certainly be described as compact, but is was excellently cleaned every day. Breakfast was delicious as well, and used local, freshly cooked ingredients. Just one thing please cranleigh. Please get a little shelf put in the shower cubicle. Not ideal without one. Still a nice place to stay though.

We booked the Cranleigh as a last minute booking the night before! We were enticed by the Romantic Turndown offer which gave us a Luxury room with champagne and chocolates. As soon as we arrived we were greeted by a lovely receptionist who booked us in at the Spa for a swim and promised us coffee on our return in the lounge. After our swim and a lovely stroll round Bowness we were greeted with coffee and choccies while we picked some films from their massive selection.
After a special honeymoon meal out in Bowness later we returned to our room to find champagne on ice and gorgeous chocolates. Our bed was scattered with rose petals accompanied by a beautiful bear which I adopted! We enjoyed a fantastic relaxing evening in our room with champagne and a fabulous spa bath with mood lighting and a T.V on the wall! We then pigged out on the choccies on our lovely comfy bed watching DVDs.
We normally only use our hotel rooms as a base but the next day after venturing out early seeing the wonderful lakes we decided to retire to bed at 6.30 after another amazing spa bath, taking 3 films with us and eating more fab chocolates!
This is the best place we have ever stayed. Every single detail is thought about. There is not one thing missed out. I truly believe everyone has to experience a nights stay here at least once in their life!

This was a birthday treat off my husband to celebrate my 40th Birthday. He told me we were staying in a simple B & B and not to get too excited. We had seen The Cranleigh`s website, and vowed that we`d stay there...one day. Well, that day had come, to my surprise, and it turned out to be the best 2 nights accomodation I`ve ever stayed in. Honestly, it was faultless from the moment we arrived. Receptionist was excellent, breakfast was freshly made, room was to die for, and the bathroom was stunning. It even had a flat screen TV in the wall, so you could soak up the bubbles in the jacuzzi bath while watchin TV. Ipod docking station, FANTASTIC!
Bowness on Windermere itself was quite quiet, so we ate out and then watched a DVD from the hotels vast DVD collection, in bed with our champagne and chocolates! Perfect!
This is an honest review from a very happy 40 year old customer, who hopes to return very soon -hubby take note please :-)
Finally, a huge thank you for a lovely few days to by gorgeous hubby for organising such a lovely break, but also to the staff at The Cranleigh for making our stay so perfect. A special shout out goes to Emma I believe, for organising the petals on the bed and the champagne!
