We were lucky enough to be invited to a wedding at the Woodhall Hotel & Spa. But after experiencing the 'service and quality' the venue had to offer we feel compelled to let others know...
Okay, let's start with the positives. The surrounding scenery is verging on breathtaking, it really is special. And that's the positives out of the way.
Let's not forget this was a wedding. The most special day of two people's lives. You would expect the staff to be attentive, friendly, approachable and willing to do whatever it takes to make it a day the happy couple will never forget. You'd expect it but be sadly mistaken. On getting to the venue the chap handing out champagne looked like he'd been woken up perhaps two minutes beforehand, and he wasn't happy about it. Glassed were poured half empty and not topped up or were filled to the brim and then past, all over the hand of the guest.
Food was late and well below standard. Many of the desserts were sent back - a chocolate tart that was just too 'tart'.
The price of drinks on the night do was high but you expect this from a wedding venue to be fair. The price of the soft drinks though was a little excessive - £3.85 for a pint of coke is taking the mickey I'm afraid.
A last valid point. The hotel requires the wedding party to guarantee that all rooms at the hotel will be taken - £175 a room per night - and if not the wedding party is required to 'top up' the cash... Read the contract through beginning to end before signing anything!
All of the above could have been forgiven had the majority of staff not gone about their duties with an arrogant, unfriendly and pretentious air to them.
I think one of the other guests summed it up the best... faded glory.
