“Not on of Premier Inn's best!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 12, 2011

Having stayed at quite a few Premier Inn hotels we found the on located in Weymouth disappointing. The room was tired and 3 things not working. They fixed only one of them during our 2 night stay despite drawing them to their attention 3 times. The carpet was old and stained and needed replacing, We only took breakfast after reading earlier reviews, but this too was not up to Premier Inn's usual standards.

We had a great stay from start to finish. The welcome when we checked-in was friendly and helpful. Our room was really hot but a fan was provided to make it more comfortable. The premier breakfast was fantastic, so much choice, a great start to the day! And the kids ate for free! Staff there were really friendly too.
The location is good, being next to Lodmoor Park for family entertainment. It is a 15 minute walk along the sea-front into Weymouth town, which we love doing (tires the children out niceley!!) There is a bus provided every 10 minutes from Lodmoor park into town, and back, for those who wish to use it.
We are a family of four with two boys aged 5 and 3.

we have stayed in many premier inns and this hasnt failed us.... the location was fantastic for access to the beach, the staff were wonderfully friendly and helpfull and the restauarant staff were polite and helpfull. The only downfall was that the bathroom was in need of a very thorough clean.... We have never had a problem before and will no doubt continue to stay in premier inns however was surprised at this due to the fact it is still fairly new.

Stayed at this Hotel en route and on returning from Jersey. As my colleague and I had early starts on both stays. We went to bed at 11pm. On our second visit, (18/03/2011) we were awoken by on two occasions, at about 12.30am by children running up and down the corridor and at 2am by 'Boy Racers' in the council car park just below our windows.
When we checked out (for the first time ever in my history staying with Premier Inn) I complained and asked about their money back guarantee of a good nights sleep.
The man on duty was totally uninterested in our complaint, to the point that he streched back in his chair and put his hands behind his head, I actually thought he was going to put his feet up on the desk. You will have to write to the manager, he said..
When we returned home, we wrote by email to the manager, who didnt reply.
Many ...many...emails and phone calls later(I think I conversed with every member of staff), we eventually got a refund after a couple of months. . It cost almost as much in telephone calls from Ireland to the UK, as the refund we received. So please do NOT take the Good nights sleep guarantee as Gospel, unless you are prepared to spend a lot of money getting it.

The Premier Inn is supposed to be a budget hotel and yet we paid approximately £50 pppn for B& B. Hardly budget and yet the hotel is budget with, for example, no lounge, few toiletries (only soap), no biscuits on the hospitality tray etc. Also, there was no shaving point in the room. There was only one chair as the settee had been made up into a bed even though there were only 2 of us. For the cost of the room I expect better.

The restaurant was also disappointing. Whilst I cannot fault the food at breakfast it still feels like eating in a pub rather than in a restaurant. But at dinner it was appalling. They obviously were very short staffed and each night there was a list of food not available. We were on the meal deal and the choice is limited and then further limited by the food not available that night. On the second night we arrived about 6.45pm and were told there was about a 45 minute wait and so we booked a table for 7.30 pm and then went back to the room. At 7.30 we were shown to a table in a room which seemed not to be normally used. The starter came about 10 minutes after we ordered it but then we sat around for about 45 minutes after finishing it. My wife saw the manager who immediately arranged for our starter dishes to be cleared away and for our main course to be served. It seems as though the system is that when the starter is cleared the order for the next course is then actioned but as no one had been assigned to our table nothing had happened. On the other 2 days we were there service was also very slow.

On the meal deal we were supposed to have the option of a 175 ml glass of wine. On the first night I was given a 125 ml glass. On complaining the glass was topped up. The waiters said they were unaware of what we should have been given. The second night I was again given a 125 ml glass and on pointing out what we should have the wine was poured into a 250 ml glass and I was given 250 ml of wine. I pointed this out to the manager when he came to clear our table and because of the long wait we were given a free extra drink. However, despite pointing the problem out to the manager, on the 3rd night I was again given a 125 ml glass which was then topped up using a 5ml spirit measure. Is it legal to offer 175 ml of wine if they don’t have 175 ml glasses?

Overall, the Premier Inn needs to do better.

We normally stay at Marriott Hotels. This was first stay at a Premier Inn & it won't be last. Very impressed with the cleanliness and comfort of the room. The staff were very helpful and efficient and the hotel is located in a quiet position within an easy walk of the town centre. Free & plentiful parking a bonus. Liked it so much we are planning a return visit.
