The pebble bank that is Chesil Beach is an awesome sight stretching from Portland to Bridport. The steep climb from the car parks at the Portland and Wyke Regis end is rewarded with an equally steep decent towards the English Channel in Lyme Bay. This place is a must see in all weathers, but especially when there are gales. The waves crash against the beach and plumes of spray fly into the air. If you like angling and bird watching this is a good venue. Please note, swimming is a definite no no, far too dangerous. Parking charges are a bit pricey, but that's life. You at least can use the public facilities in the car park. Recommend a visit.
