“OMG BAD!!!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed September 10, 2013

If you like old smelly furniture out of the 60s and wouldn't mind sleeping above a potential fire hazard ( Duct tape fixes all) then stay in room Nr. 2! its above the kitchen so its nice and hot in the sommer and the smelly will delight your senses, even when your a sleep.
A continental breakfast is not 2 bagels wrapped in cellophane with an APPLE AND AN Bannana..for gods sake people read about what a real continental breakfast is before selling it to the public as such.
Share your Germs and whatever in an unclean toilet and shower, the germs think its germ paradise in that toilet and shower/bathroom.... Don't go for the "shared toilets" please.
Will never use that "hotel" again..a fire hazard and a disgrace to the hotel profession.

Room Tip: Do not use room 2

We stayed here last weekend in Room 4 ( family room ). It was clean, light and airy. There was an en suite bathroom and shower plus tea, coffee and hot chocolate supplies.

The staff were helpful without being intrusive and even though they only serve a continental breakfast the croissants were beautiful.

It was also good value and really close to the sea.

Room Tip: Room 4 is a lovely family room

shower was dirty and would not stay at constant temperature,no where to put soap or shower gel, i.e no shelf or storage for any toiletries.Breakfast was a joke, and could only eat it in your room which consisted of an apple, a banana and a croisssant. Beer was expensive even compared to seafront prices. the whole place in need of refurb. The only good thing was the bed was comfortable.
would not stay again!

Ok based upon a second visit for 3 nights:

None on suite family room this time. Bigger than on suite and bigger TV. I preferred it as bathrooms so close. A bit noisier but not bad at all. Great location for price as a 20 minute scenic walk into Weymouth. Breakfast good for continental but plastic croissants. Good hot drink selection in room and kettle and they tide towels each days. A touch dated but you will be out most of the time. Ten out of 10 for value for me, 2 kids 8 and 11 plus girlfriend :)

The food is excellent value and beautiful presented lovely and tasty and perfectly cooked.
Shame about the bloke on the phone in the restaurant though! And only ordinary coffee no decaff or specialised coffees but fully recommend it Don't know anything about the bar or accomodation though Will definitely go again!

Room Tip: Only used the restaurant didn't stay

We stayed for 3 nights at beginning of February. You enter hotel via a pub, which was cool as we were gasping after the journey.checked in and was taken around the back of a Thai restaurant, passed the kitchen and up a flight of stairs to room 3. The room was large and bright. Had ensuite which was very good. Shower was lovely. Bed was very comfy.only down side of room was that it was above the thai restaurant and you could hear most of the conversation beneath you. But that was not a problem. Breakfast consisted of a continental style with croissants and fruit which was left outside in hallway from 6 am. Overall we enjoyed our stay in the old castle hotel and would go back again.

We've stayed in this hotel twice now and will again! We found the staff both friendly and helpful, the room was spacious comfortable and warm, and it really did provide us with a base for our stay in Weymouth at a very reasonable price.

Room Tip: Book in advance to get a good choice of rooms. Breakfast is continental....
