We were recommended to try this restaurant by the owner of our guest house, we arrived late in the afternoon when the place was less crowded.
My partner went for haddock and chips and I tried the mackerel sandwich with chips and salad. I also tried the pea fritter...not knowing what to expect. It turned out to be a large ball of mushy peas coated in breadcrumbs and deep fried. I would not describe it as fritter exactly, more like a pea ball...I had spotted these on other menus in the area and came to the conclusion that these are a Weymouth special.
The food was quick to arrive despite the throng around the take away counter , nicely cooked and we enjoyed our meal very much.
I particularly enjoyed the mackerel, an underrated fish and underused elsewhere.
I found the pea ball too large for one so it was shared.
Some of the fish portions looked very big too, it would be nice to able a smaller ones for smaller appetites.
They are licenced too so we had a glass of beer and wine respectively to wash the meal down...nice wines to choose from.
It gets very busy, you may have to wait and is in a spot close to the old harbour.
