“A Great Place To Stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 week ago

This is a charming seaside hotel, ( the beach is just across the road) with delightful owners. Not luxurious or posh, and not pretending to be, but warm, comfortable and friendly ( 'posh' can be a tad snooty). My elderly mother and I were spending a couple of days checking out Weymouth (that'll be a separate review) and I chose the Langham primarily for it's closeness to the beach, but also because it offered an evening meal. Jacqui answered the door to me, helped to unload Mum, then showed me where to park, issued a permit and helped to carry the luggage, then showed us our room, telling us about mealtimes, what was on offer and other useful information all the while. She couldn't have been friendlier or more helpful. Dinner (which is only for residents and needs to be requested in the morning) was at six o'clock, and was 3 courses of delicious unpretentious English cooking followed by tea/coffee and because we were the only diners, accompanied by Jacqui's tales of visits to The Gambia and the work she and Geoff are involved in there. Breakfast the next day offered fruit juice, choices of cereals, fruit, pastries etc followed by cooked English breakfast; the components changing daily. Diets can be catered for if warning given. We didn't meet Geoff until the day we left as he'd been away himself, but he is equally friendly, entertaining and helpful; we couldn't have asked for better hosts and would recommend them and the hotel to anyone.
A note on parking: The Esplanade is a very busy main road and a sea of yellow lines. Parking for the hotel, and probably others on the esplanade is in the small streets to the side and rear of the hotel. There are marked bays which you take on a first come, best space basis, fairly strictly monitored by the local Wasps who will sting you with a fine if you don't display a permit. These are issued free by the hotel; request one when you book. This could be a bit of a pain if you have a lot of luggage, small kids or a wheelchair pilot,so bear this in mind; it's the one disadvantage to being on the seafront.

Room Tip: We were in Rm 2, as I'd asked for a ground floor rm; Mum is not always happy with stairs, so I c...

The Langholm had a very warm feel and was like a home from home. The owners, Geoff and Jacqui are fantastic and made an extra effort to ensure everything was to our liking, especially since I'm pregnant. The breakfast room has a great view of the sea and the bar was very reasonably priced. Definitely recommend.

A fairly average stay. Very warm and friendly hosts. Room was a reasonable size and kept very clean. Breakfast was fairly average - nice bacon but cheapish sausages, nice fruit salad and also options of pre-packed pastries. I'd like to give a higher rating given the friendliness of Geoff and Jacqui, but honestly it was average - which is what 3 blobs is labelled as.

Thank you for your kind comments
Very warm friendly hosts
Very clean room
Nice bacon fruit salad
The friendliness of Geoff and Jacqui
The sausages are brought from a local supplier and are normally popular with guests, can only apologies that they were not to your taste.
We hope that you had an enjoyable stay in Weymouth. We are not quite sure which family you were as you have not left your name and we had a number of families staying with us over this period of time
Best wishes
Geoff and Jacqui

We stayed at The Langham for the New Year and Geoff and Jacqui made us feel very welcome. The room was comfortable, clean and warm and had everything we needed. On New Year's Day there was just a buffet breakfast which was more than adequate for those of us who had been out revelling the night before. We had cooked breakfasts on the other two days which were fine. It was a bonus having car parking off road, which can be tricky in Weymouth!
The hotel was in a lovely location on the seafront, just far enough away from the town to be quiet but well within walking distance of the shops and amusements.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and hope to go back there again soon.

Room Tip: We stayed in Room 4 which was to the rear of the hotel so no sea view but it was very quiet. It was...

We took six rooms for a family weekend; Geoff & Jacqui couldn't have been more helpful & friendly. All rooms well equipped & clean, lovely sea views from front rooms. Copious cooked to order breakfasts. Our kids were happy & relaxed in the family friendly atmosphere. Geoff is a Wycombe fan so that was a real find! Geoff & Jacqui go regularly to the Gambia, where they do great work supporting a primary school; I'm sure they would welcome any contributions.
Thanks once again for a memorable weekend; hope to be back

Stayed for 4 nights at the beginning of October in a lovely light airy room at the front of the hotel with balcony and a great sea view - breakfast was very good with a slight variation each day and evening meals if required (as we did on 3 out of the 4 nights we stayed) were also very good with different choices for each night. Geoff & Jackie were lovely hosts and couldn't have been more helpful
