We stayed at Green Gables over the May half term break, two adults and three children aged 13, 10 and 4. Unfortunately the weather conspired against us, with a heavy downpour on the first day, but as far as the B&B goes I couldn't fault the establishment. The family room was large, pleasant and spotlessly clean, with all the facilities we needed. The welcome was warm and friendly. The breakfast was delicious with good sized portions. The proprietors were so lovely and wonderful with the children, taking the time to look at the fossils they'd collected on Charmouth Beach and patient of my fussy eaters.
The location was good too, within walking distance of the beach and shops, with a small parking area at the front, which was a godsend in this busy town.
Being a giggly thirteen year old, my daughter did comment on the artwork of cherubs and classical figures that another reviewer mentioned, but it in no way detracted from our stay. Think Sistine Chapel and Michaelangelo's David, with fig leaves and bunches of grapes and stuff. I didn't find them in any way offensive (in my eyes they were beautiful pieces of artwork) and I had no problem with my children seeing them.
I would definitely recommend this B&B to other families and would happily stay there again.
