“Overun with kids”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed August 8, 2011

Firstly, I accept this is August so I know the site will be busy.

But until about 9:30 at night this site was like a zoo - there were unsupervised kids everywhere.

We didn't hear too much music and were kept up unti 1AM on just 1 of the 7 nights so that wasn't too bad, but generally you cannot expect anything remotely quiet until the kids go to bed around 10 PM.

Shower and loo block were very good.

The site claims to be for the more "decerning camper" but really it felt exactly the same as the adjacent larger site, perhaps it was full of people as an overflow from that site rather than people looking for a quiet site ?

We wil not return.

Room Tip: If you value quietness go out of school holidays or to another site

we have just come back from a 5 night break here, we were pleased with the site, it had all we needed for the time we were there.
very nice clean toilet and shower block, cleaned twice a day!
the only thing i would say is that they should let people take their own ice blocks and charge them for freezing, it was a pain when we were only allowed 2 because their freezer wasnt freezing them very well! considering they have 3 campsites or more i think they should be able to afford a replacement freezer!!!!! i can understand the rules but we never saw or heard anyone being so say "told off" for talking or being loud! i think the rules are geared towards big groups! so i think some of these reviews are a bit harsh! the ladies in the shop were fine with me when ever i went in there too!
well worth another visit!

We had a great time its suited to familees and not large groups.

I never write reviews but do feel the place has got a bit of a bum deal on the review front.

If you are a large group or expect American style 'have a nice day' service then go to Haven - but if like us a with a young family then this is the place. Quiet well run and surrounded by space to roam. The sunset over Fleet Lagoon was incredible.

The campsite is clean and has rather well thought out facilities the family bathrooms and shower with seat and a shower screen built ib - is genius and shows attention to detail well worth the pitch cost.

Four friends and I spent two nights recently at Sea Barn Farm. Overall the facilities were good: the new block had nice, warm showers and was very clean but the older block was grim with wonky toilet seats and dark showers. The pitches were pretty well-tended and the views towards Chesil Beach spectacular.

As a group we understood the reasoning behind the deposits (twenty pounds apiece). However, the extensive rules given on arrival had to be rigidly kept to. On the first night, just before the eleven o'clock curfew, we were in our sleeping bags quietly talking when one of the staff came to our tent and said if we weren't silent soon we would lose our deposit, unfair considering it was still prior to eleven and the campsite was still relatively noisy.

The receptionist was rude throughout our stay. An enquiry into the nearest beach besides Weymouth was met with an abrupt reply to try...Weymouth. When we left the site the receptionist did not say a single word; I handed over the tag from the tent, said my name and they silently handed over the envelope containing the bonds before turning back to the computer.

The general attitude of the staff means that we will not be coming back, despite the lovely location. No one wants to be treated like a naughty schoolchild on holiday!

I made the mistake of reading the reviews on here before we set off, and almost cancelled to book in somewhere else!

We arrived on Friday evening, there was a bit of a queue to check in, but nothing significant and the lady in the shop was perfectly pleasant. We pitched up and had wonderful views of the sea, so were delighted.

The rule sheet did look a bit OTT, but then again, I suppose the previous experience has deemed some of these necessary. We had a bit of a giggle about them, but then set about having a lovely relaxing weekend.

The rules obviously worked because the site had a lovely feel about it with friendly people, no late night parties, and we had two very good nights' sleep (which we needed because we were in the area to go climbing).

The facilities were excellent - plenty of toilets and showers and all very clean and well maintained (I used both the new and the old blocks).

If you're after a campsite with a party feel (and lack of sleep as a result), then don't come here, but if you want a nice relaxed campsite and a good night's sleep, then you can't do much better!

Room Tip: Head to the far side of the campsite (from the shop) for the best views!

Having read all the reviews on here we booked Sea Barn, when we arrived around 3pm the shop was closed but there was a clear notice telling us where we were to pitch our tent and the plot mumber.

We had plot 147 with an electric hook up, pitched our tent and had a look around the site

We looked in the new toilet and shower block and you will be hard pushed to find any better facilities anywhere it was immaculate, there are also sinks behind the block to do your washing up

On a camping holiday you expect the site to be quiet after dark and also early morning starts so this is why the rules are in place and if you stick to the rules you will not have any problems, obviously some people have fallen foul of the rules and did not like the consequences,we went in the shop a few times and found the 2 ladies very pleasant and helpful, we did look at the shop prices and yes they are slightly expensive compared to the local supermarkets but be fair these people are running a business and they have to make their money during the summer months, dont go complaining if you need something urgently having had to pass supermarkets on the way

Sea Barn is a beautiful place in a fantastic location the views are fantastic

We also used the local pub called "The Lugger Inn" and the food was great, service was excellent and would recommend it to you, also the "Ghurka restaraunt" which is a buffet style, which was freshly cooked in front of us and there was plenty of variety again reasonably priced

Just to clarify we are not related to anyone at Sea Barn, we live in Yorkshire and have given a true reflection of Sea Barn as we found it, we enjoyed it there and would definitely recommend it and will be returning back again

ok, well lets start with the good, its a great location, i cannot deny. lovely views of the sea. its a big site with plenty of room for big tents. One shower block near the entrance is pretty good, (this is the new block). thats it!! now for the rest and the awful truth of this place. The lady in the shop who runs the site is horrible. A money grabber. Not very friendly. basically the customer service here is terrible! There is no facility for freezing ice blocks. But you can hire theirs for a deposit of 75p each block plus 25p for the hire of each block. oh and you must remember to wash them when you return them! Over at the west fleet barn/bar/clubhouse you can sample a burger for a measly £7.00!! or a jacket spud for £8.00. the steaks start at £15 and go up to £25. DONT EVEN GO THERE!! even at those prices the lad behind the bar still tried to short change me a quid! The pool bytheway is not heated. At least not when we used it at around 12.00 midday. It was empty too, no surprise oh and had not been cleaned. Back to sea barn and the other toilet block is like something from the 1950's, watch your head if your having a wash! toilet seats mostly loose. Hot water was luke warm. The shop never seems to be open either. it shuts at 10.00am and reopens late afternoon sometime, if they can be bothered. Groups will have to pay a bond of £20 which i have no objection to other than if you decide to chat after 11 you will be warned and lose your bond if warned for a second time, 2 strikes and your out!! Overall if you are looking at weymouth for your holidays i would avoid this place like the plague. Too many rules, no friendly atmosphere, and extortionate prices in the clubhouse and the shop. For anyone who has given this place a good rating i reckon you must be related to the owners in some way. have a nice holiday!
