“Divine food”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 21, 2013

Excellent presentation, hot and varied choice. Restaurant quiet - out of season. Quality service - couldn't do enough for us. Definately go back there.

“lovely, welcoming staff”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 10, 2012

Husband and I ate twice at The Forresters in Middleton-in-Teesdale while visiting my parents (05 & 06/06/12) and when we next come up, we will definitely come here again. Service was excellent, waiting staff and bar staff (the same person, bless) was very attentive and welcoming. Chef/Proprietor popped his head out too, making sure the four of us were well catered for (newly pregnant = little bit fussy) and assured us that it was no trouble at all. Food was well presented and delicious, but a little fiddly. Came back for lunch the next day and we adopted the comfy leather sofa for a few hours. Would certainly recommend hesitating round the pudding section...

“shut when we arrived”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed December 5, 2012

we had booked to stay here 4 weeks before we went on a groupon deal when we arrived the whole place was shut ,rang the phone just a answer phone message. popped into the hairdressers a few doors down she was great, She got hold of Nadine who apparently was taking over running it from the 1st of december . She rang the owner who had moved out 2 days before, He just said he had no booking thats why he'd shut, I could relay my whole conversation here i had with them when i booked, but whats the point when they just say its not on there booking. That said Nadine who is taking over was very good even offered to let us stay at the hotel on our own but that dident appeal to us, a bit spookey for me a whole hotel with just us there, so she took us over to the Teesdale hotel who took us in. Thank you Nadine for your help and wish you every success .

Fresh, quality local ingredients used to produce excellent food. I can particularly recommend the home made black puddding served in the full english breakfast.
