““Best of British night"”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 26, 2013

A lovely evening with friends at the Best of British night at Clarendon's was a delight and the delicious food was very much enjoyed by all. We received a warm welcome from the staff and the atmosphere is inviting. Helpful staff, great food and pleasant atmosphere what more could you want.

I would highly recommend and will return again.

“Best Tea in Town”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 29, 2013

Afternoon teas in ye olde midaeval towns can prove treacherously disappointing: mouth-aching adjectives in the menu on the front window - even salacious food-photos - but once inside: let-down. Not at Clarendon's. "Afternoon Tea for Two" produces a 3-tier extravaganza: little cut sandwiches [including smoked salmon], rolls, cake-y things that look indifferent but prove to be delicious, and - to tier - obscenely good and utterly satisfying small chocolate, sponge and cheese cakes. I forget price, but it was not as dear as nearby Richmond-based afternoon teas. Right on the high street, near HSBC. Really, a treat [despite the rather slow service, mitigated by personable cheeriness]

Lunch with a friend. Lovely little tea shop since new owners have taken over and updated it. Lovely interior and relaxed atmosphere, great service and excellent food.

“Best cafe in town”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 19, 2013

Just had a truly delightful lunch at Clarendon's in Barnard Castle. I had the olive and parma ham salad which was lovely - one of the best I have ever had! My daughter had the steak and ale pie, which was also fantastic! The atmosphere in the tearoom was great, even the fire was lit giving us a chance to get dried off from the rain. The presentation of the food was good, it arrived quickly and the service was excellent, the girls were very friendly and polite.

Can't wait to return, thanks girls!
