just come back from a day out in Barnard Castle which was ruined by our experience of
lunch at Clarendons cafe, it has been redecorated and gives a good first impression
although the staff at the desk looked miserable when we walked in, we ordered two
jacket potatos , mine with cheese and onion, not difficult you imagine but when it
arrived the potato was undercooked, the salad looked old and the coleslaw in a little
pot was so hard it was inedible. I told the waitress the potato was hard so she took it
away only for it to arrive back five minutes later having been in the microwave, it was just about
edible so I gave up complaining us they obviously had no intention of giving me a fresh
meal just heating up the bad one and mums potato was also undercooked. For what it
was it was very expensive and we were still hungry afterwards as there was very little we
could eat - no manager or owner came to speak to us just a very mumbled apology from
the waitress who was very eager to get us to pay and leave.
