“Great value”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 9, 2014

Popped in for a mid week treat. Curry night is always popular and now that you can reserve a table....less stressful on arrival as our table was ready and waiting. Everyone opted for curry except myself....love the chicken burgers....30 min wait but food always good...a cheap mid week treat!

““Tired for a newish pub/restaurant. "Could do better!"””
3 of 5 stars Reviewed May 4, 2014

Sorry, but our experience last Sunday was rather average. Child's spaghetti bolognese had obviously been prepared long prior to service, then warmed up. Looked dry and sad, not very appetising, good job our seven year old was hungry. Service was slow, the manager for the evening "Alan" needs the course on customer relations. A positive response to customers would ensure that we would overlook many other aspects of the venue. The beer was in excellent condition and the mixed grills etc. that the rest of us had were of an excellent standard for the price. Furniture, carpeting etc all looking shabby, but not chic! Used to have a fair selection of sauces beside the bar, but what has happened to the English Mustard? This has now been replaced by something called "sweet English mustard" which is a very poor copy of French mustard and in no way suitable to accompany the rather good steak on the mixed grill.
Will we go again, well yes because it is convenient and open early to take a child out, and value good, but overall - could do better!

“Ok - typical wspoons but slow service”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed April 28, 2014

We eat here frequently as it's not bad value and it's easy to get a table. The food can be hit an miss as to the temperature, the service consistently slow in terms of not enough staff, no speed amongst the staff except the mature lady waiting tables who has blonde hair , and the tables not always as clean as could be.

Usually quite a decent atmosphere, always a fair few folk in.

The food - same as all spoonies I expect in terms of choice and portion sizes. My partner enjoys the burgers and hot dog, I've enjoyed a variety of meals. Chips often a little under cooked.

“Never again”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed April 12, 2014

We decided to have a meal out as we did not want to cook,oh how I wished we had not.The chicken was dry bacon overcooked and everything was swimming in B.Q.sauce not a pleasant experience. The pub itself is dark and depressing well another place of our list to have a meal. The only thing going for this place is the choice of ales.

“Delicious well-cooked breakfast. Excellent waitress.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 4, 2014

Delicious well-cooked breakfast. Everything was tasty and piping hot. As always in Wetherspoons it was brilliant value for money ( less than £10 for 2 breakfasts, 2 drinks and a portion of toast). Excellent waitress - Rach..... good friendly Yorkshire hospitality (that's praise indeed from a Lancastrian). Thank you.
