“Sledmere House”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 17, 2013

This Stately Home is one in my opinion not to be missed. There is always enjoyable days out to be had throughout the year with 40 s War time Splendor, Medieval reenactments, and open house days etc to name but a few. The grounds are fabulous with great walks to be had around the estate. Lots to see and do and the house is beautifully laid out. There is a shop and restaurant and the food is locally sourced and is very good. Great for people of all ages, you will not be disappointed if you visit. The staff are very helpful and knowledgeable so don't be afraid to ask them for anything.

“worth a visit”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 25, 2013

We live only a few miles from Sledmere House so it is our local stately home . The house is not huge but well worth a visit, there is beautiful plasterwork on the ceilings. On Sundays a local organist plays on the house organ which adds to the atmosphere. Throughout the year there are many events held within the grounds i.e. Gymkana, car rallies etc. there is a cafe with outside seating if the weather is fine.

“Lovely day out”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 14, 2013

We had passed this house on several trips but decided to make a special visit and glad we did as we had a lovely time. The house itself is beautiful and comfortable like any home, the staff are all very polite, friendly and knowledgeable. We also had our lunch in the cafe after a lovely walk around the grounds where we saw the herd of deer

“Fabulous Day Out”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 2, 2013 via mobile

We visited one beautifully sunny Sunday afternoon in September and thoroughly enjoyed our time here. The gardens and scenery are breathtaking. Deer run in herds in the fields and the well tended gardens a delight and alive with colour. The play park was well kept and we all had a go on the clambering climbing area (don't think it was meant for adults too but we did enjoy it ha ha!) The cafe was a good place to have a cuppa and look through the leaflet before exploring. The ladies in the house 'the guides' were so friendly and helpful. They gave my daughter, Eve aged 7, a questionnaire of things to find in the beautiful rooms. We had great fun looking around and noticing things we would have otherwise overlooked had we not had this. Eve was entranced by it all and loved walking down the stairs to the tune of the organ. My son, 14 and husband enjoyed the visit just as much as we did and we can't wait to return. Beautiful x

“A hidden gem in the Yorkshire Wolds”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 22, 2013

We visited on a damp day in September. The House perhaps does not have the most beautiful exterior but it is in a spectacular park and the interior and its history are well worth the visit.

The enthusiastic, knowledgeable and helpful guides throughout the House made the day even more enjoyable. If you go on a day when the Head Gardener gives a tour, don't miss it.
