“My Timeshare”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 23, 2013

While the hotel is independent, there is also a Timeshare section. The members have the use of the hotel grounds etc., but also the lounge and dining facilities.
The restaurant boasts of its "fine dining" and, I must admit, it is rather special. This in spite of the fact that when I asked for tartare sauce I was informed that they did not have any(!). Further investigation brought the answer, "We do not do tartare sauce in fine dining".

Room Tip: There are some very special suites on offer from time to time.

Dear Guest
I'm really glad you enjoyed your stay in our apartments and the use of the Hotel facilities. We think our food is special too but I have taken the liberty of bringing the chefs my grandmother’s recipe for a tangy tartar sauce.

Loved this hotel. Beautiful building. Loved the drive through the forest to get here. Saw deers and ponies. It was so nice in the snow. Bedroom was quite big. Bathroom quite nice, free toiletries. Our deal was £151 per room for BB and dinner with a free glass of champagne each and some canapés. Used the spa and beauty treatments. Pool was a bit small. Staff friendly, good service. Very clean hotel too. Great grounds to explore when warmer.

We had a lovely two day midweek stay here. The staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful and the setting is absolutely beautiful, especially with a good sprinkling of snow for that extra sparkle. The room was warm and comfortable with a huge bed, and very well appointed bathroom with a tv over the bath!

Inevitably for a hotel like this the original building is a frontispiece for much less characterful modern bedrooms. The dining room and breakfast room in the original house were full of character but a bit chilly and miles from the rooms; the bar was warm and comfortable but not very characterful.

But overall we really enjoyed our stay and will look at other hotels in the chain for future trips.

We booked this hotel with an overnight stay, transfers to and from Southampton for a cruise and parking for 28days. We were absolutely delighted with everything. The hotel, set in wonderful grounds in the New Forest, is stunning and full of character. The staff are both efficient and welcoming, and contributed towards a very relaxing few days. Breakfast was excellent and was served in attractive surroundings. We aim to return for a longer visit.

I won't go on.....I stayed at the feversham arms hotel in yorkshire last week and it had been slated by reviews, we had a wonderful time with 10/10 service, log fire in room and great spa - this weekend we stayed at the Rhinefield, some great reviews on TA and we had a terrible experience. All of which we conveyed to 'matthew, matt, michael....? and did he try to put things right, no he just nodded and looked at me as if I was trying to reduce the bill!! We have stayed in some wonderful country house hotels across the world and this should work, the building is great, location perfect, and as you step inside - smack - reality hits, this is tired, poorly managed and lacks love and interest...........I have never left a bad review on any website..........but this really hit a nerve!! All they had to do was light a few logs fires, manage the spa pool so guests could use it and attend to small details like having items in the kitchen that they write on the menu..........and please Mark the manager......don't leave me a message after this saying sorry, your team had every opportunity to sort things, they chose to nod and smile. This used to be owned by Richard Branson - when Virgin sell you something, you need to peddle hard to get it right.

We had a fantastic time on 21st December! The hotel was immaculate and beautifully decorated for the festive period. Everyone commented on how attentive the staff were and how lovely the wedding breakfast and evening buffet was! Thank you to all the staff at Rhinefield who contributed towards a wonderful wedding!

We stayed at The Rhinefield House from December 28-30, 2012. First of all when we drove up to the house my children were so excited. I am originally from England but now live in America and brought my husband and 2 children (13 and 9) to see The New Forest. Christian at check in could not have been more welcoming and helpful. I was most impressed with the staff at The Rhinefield House, always helpful and kind. Our executive suite was spacious and comfortable, although the children did complain that the sofa bed was hard. The grounds were well maintained. We enjoyed our morning breakfast. We loved our stay and will be back soon. Thank you so much to all the staff.
